Great point!!
yeah i agree with this somewhat but dude was begging to support and promote the album also because he knows the reach Joe has now and what that’ll do financially
Joey's reach ain't that great. His L&HH fans don't even know his music. His podcast audience is mostly different than his music audience. Hell, he pretty much has the same fanbase as Royce & Joell. He said some great things about the HARD album, and people on here that listen to his podcast still didn't know they dropped an album.
I don't think Joell was really asking for support for the album. He just can't debate with lawyer a$$ Joe, so that's the part that stands out. He jumped on the Live because they were calling them liars and such. If not for that, he wouldn't have cared. Same with Crook. Their stance is moreso FOH with all of that saying we're saying the group is done. Y'all been said it.
Sounds like he said the deal included ownership on the labels behalf.
His argument is...why in the fukk would 'we' be taking album advances for x amount of albums and giving up any kinda ownership of the brand at this point in our careers?
Now he could be lying...but if that's the case, I wouldn't be that eager about responding to it it either. Just like I wouldn't be eager to let Joe fund the project if I was Crooked, but if that's how it went down then I comnpletely understand, esescially since they've already done 'bad buisness' up to this point.
Would anybody here advise a young rapper with his own platofrm to sign a fukking record deal instead of going indy? Especially if it includes ownership of his work? Anybody saying yes should not be giving advice to music artists.
Ownership is NOT the end-all. Profitability is, which is why most people cash out. Whatever you own is only as valuable as what others see it for based on profitability. Any money they'd get from a label is more than they'd ever see if they put it out indie. For even more hypocrisy from Joe, let's say Joe was allowed to finance the project. So, he'd put the money upfront, the artists would get their cut upfront, and then he'd see what he would recoup on the backend before they saw anything else. Wouldn't that STILL be doing a deal with a label? Essentially, he is the label in that regard. He would more than likely also want majority ownership, which contradicts everything he's saying.
The kicker is that Crook said he told Royce to ask Joe whatever he wants in the deal, and they'd put it in there.
