Or maybe I just need to understand if you mean critical acclaim, talent (playing instruments), etc. Because as far as charting, songs that have bigger cultural impact, and how long they were at their peak, I'm not sure it's even close.

HER had a nice lil 2-3 year run and has been tryna find her way byke sense. Keyshia's peak had to have lasted 4-5 years IIRC.

Brandy was much more adventerous musically which has its draw backs. Vocally Brandys influence among her peers cant be denied. And do we really need to have a debate about Brandy vs Mary and Aaliyah vocally lol? For Mariah,Whitney and Aretha to be that high on a rnb list,vocals must count for alot. And damn if they was flops but Full Moon and Afrodesiac are two of the greatest female rnb albums ever. I really liked her latest album as well. Two different classes of artist imo.

Vocally, Brandy is dope and she's an icon. But Mary's music shifted the genre. Anything Brandy was doing musically was a direct byproduct of what Mary had established in 1992. Mary was literally the foundation of the 90s. She started it all.

The genre took a further shift when One In A Million was released and Aaliyah was working with Timbaland and Missy. Thats when shyt got real. Rodney Jerkins already admitted that a lot of his work with Brandy was basically him trying to imitate what Timbaland was doing with Aaliyah. They were trying to recreate that sound. And it's funny you mentioned Afrodisiac...the album that sounded like nothing but Aaliyah leftovers. Lol.

Sorry but..Brandy is cool but she is not Aaliyah and she damn sure isn't Mary.

Beyonce is one the most versitle and experimental artist in the top 10, in addition to being a great vocalist

Was it really a different genre? Or was it just a woman doing what men had already been doing. Its like saying Aaliyah created a new genre when she basically took what R Kelly was doing and did it as a teenage girl. Im giving Aaliyah influence based on her vocals. So many females try to copy that simple,laid back airy style she did in modern day. Im giving Brandy credit vocally because shes highly regarded by her peers as a "vocal bible". Brandy has sold 40 million albums worldwide. So shes not exactly a bum on that front. Although Mary has sold alot more.

I could feel that if Alicia Keys wasnt sitting at 33. Alicia has sold 70 million albums and has WON 17 grammys


Which leads me to believe vocals must have some major sway in this list if you check other boxes. Brandy has 40 plus million sold worldwide. 1 grammy with 13 nominations. Had a t.v show called Moesha that was impactful. And did a musical with Whitney Houston on prime time t.v. Im just saying i think that gives her enough cache to be in the convo. Then vocally Mary and Beyonce getting packed up easily. But maybe im ovwrhyping the impact of vocals because Whitney,Aretha and Mariah are so high. Widely considered goat female vocalist of their eras. I get Beyonces high too,but shes Beyonce.
