I was in high school for I’m serious and Trap Muzik and Urban Legend. Never Scared helped blow him up across the south. Be Easy, 24’s, and RubberBand Man were huge across the south. Then 24’s and RubberBand man caught fire all over the place. By the time Urban Legend came out people were already checking for him. Down with the King helped carry the momentum but Trap Muzik definitely had him all over BET, MTV, and all the urban radio stations. The I’m serious video already played pretty regularly on BET but nobody really knew who he was and why he had a Pharrell beat with a beanie man feature. That Lacs and Prices video would come on sometimes too. Outside of local house parties and strip clubs he wasn’t too much known across the country until Trap Muzik. Then he was truly a household name.
I didn’t hear Ti vs Tip until after Basic Training, but I liked most of it. It maybe would have been received better as a single album with less songs, but same concept.
