Actually it was the writers ended suing her cause they wasn’t credited. 50 wrote that album and banged from beginning to end.
And no one thought the Big Boi half was better than GRODT. It’s moments like these where I have to stare at theColi crazy. Bro said “maybe it’s because I was in ATL” unironically as if he realizes in his head that GRODT was clearly the biggest album the year it dropped and created the only rapper doing numbers anywhere near Eminem. But because it holds some sort of personal connection to him he can’t be objective. Speakerbox was diamond because it was a double album - it sold 5 million actually. GRODT outsold it by millions of copies. This isn’t a serious discussion as far as how large each album was and what it did for pop culture.
Like what the fukk are we talking about? In no universe was any rap album in that timeframe bigger and the “Andre” part of that album is why it won. It followed the same theme of Miseducation, which exists to this day - straight up rap album has never won AOTY. If the “rap” on that album was the focal point they would not have AOTY at that juncture. We have a 30 year sample size.
Grodt was more impactful in the street than The Love Below, but The Love Below was much better...
