I have a question....

Some athletes find really good financial managers, agents, business managers........

while others seem to find somebody from off craigslist......

What separates these two camps?
Knowledge and networking. A lot of “us” fall for the first :mjpls:guy in and suit who tells us he can handle our money. No research, no background check, no nothing

I caught the show midway through ... just a couple of questions:

1. Did he loan Joe money out his own pocket ? I saw Joes wife gave him a check at the end ...

2. Was the basketball camp the business venture ARod invested in? If so, you mean to tell me Joe hadn’t tried to get a basketball camp poppin after all these years ?!! :mindblown:
He wrote him a check to get his camaro out of the shop because his girl had an accident while driving it and he used that as an excuse for why he couldn't get to work training kids.

So Alex paid to get the car out the shop since Joe said he was waiting for the insurance money.

The part where I saw Joe had a home studio :francis:

Why these athletes think they can make a hit record is beyond me

Joe said he spent about 200,000 on music over the years and only made about $500.00 off it. See, this that shyt that make you:picard:

But I didn’t know he did stuff like that on the show. Nice gesture tho. And they paid him back, which I’m bet helps them feel like they’re not getting handouts.

Given that rate of return, I'd simply call it an expensive hobby.

When you sit back and think about it, he underachieved for being a number 1 pick. don't get me wrong 16 years in the league is something most players can't say. But he had one great season out of 16. Looking at that 95 draft class now. Smith at 1, Mcdyess, Stackhouse, Sheed and Garnett.

All those other dudes you mentioned all had at least one Max deal. They all made some major cake. A lot more than Joe Smith since those dudes were going to all star game and winning ships. Kg the all time NBA leader in total salary earned.
