While Joel Embiid has been making waves for his off the court activities and antics on his Twitter, let’s remember that the man is still a basketball player. More than a basketball player, he’s a man from Cameroon that is still heavily invested in his former countries and basketball from different countries.
Via a press release from Arn Tellem and Wasserman Media Group, Joel Embiid will be leading a basketball camp in Maine this Friday, August 8 for 180 young leaders from regions of conflict from the Middle East and South Asia as a part of Seed’s of Peace 11th Annual Play for Peace Program.
The campers, who are nearly half Israeli and Palestinian, will get a break from their rigorous daily encounters and be able to learn some hoop skills from some of the best young ballers in the world. Joining Joel Embiid will be his Philadelphia 76ers teammate Jerami Grant, No. 6 overall pick of the Boston Celtics Marcus Smart, and Steven Adams of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Boston native Brian Scalabrine will also be in attendance.
