Surprised I'm not seeing any dope lines or verses being quoted yet. Nothing just jumps out as a quoteable off top?

I'm out of town right now but can't wait to bump this when I get home.

Some of the responses here are pure coli mentality as usual :shaq2:

"90's was the best era ever brehs!" Finally get a rapper that captures that and suddenly "he bitin" :comeon:

"We want Joey to expand and grow as an artist" Get the bonus track Teach Me, where he tapping a new style, and the response is nothing but negative. :leostare:

Album is a solid 3.5-4/5. No pleasing some dudes on here, I swear :pachaha:

IM digging this album. IM on the first spin so I cant really give an in depth opinion but this shyt bumps right now. Cant hate on it...I really don't see why anybody can hate on it either. It's a Joey Badass album fukk do nikka except...the same nikkas that hate on Joey for being the same hate on Wiz for switching up. I like this album...I hope this is the start of a great year for hip-hop.

When that Reggae vocal dropped on Belly of the Beast :banderas:

Dope album but I won't front at times it does feel like an album
with a bunch of guest appearances of rappers from the 90's it's saving
grace though is that Joey has a very distinct voice.
:mjpls:

OH and the moaning about "Teach Me" is completely unwarranted.
shyt is dope :yeshrug:
I dont get people saying stay out repeating the 90s sound... D'angelo did a throwback about to 70s funk and no one complains...

I am a futurist generally and as an electronic music producer aswell as a hip hop fan, I love new sounds and concepts. But nothing wrong with revisiting the past IF its done authentically and with heart, and Joey makes this sound a lil fresher than the underground sounds we are used to with this sort of production...

I do hope he grows after this album but i think its the first album he always dreamed of making, and if he made something more progressive he wouldnt be true to himself..

i think the album works, cant wait to listen more...

His last album didn't just have funk though it was a pretty varied mix
of R&B, Funk, Hip Hop, Rock, even some Jazz is in there.
I think calling it a throwback is inaccurate because you'd be hard pressed
to find a 70's Funk album that sounds like what he put out.
You might find something as equally eclectic from Funkadelic/Parliament though.

I also disagree with "fresher than the underground" here's one cat
that's easily as fresh as Joey and has very smooth production that's
pretty obviously rooted in the East Coast 90's sound. He's also from NY
as well

On top of that guys like Sean Price, Buckshot, and several other current and
past rappers have dropped music that's pretty clearly inspired by the
boom bap records of the 90's.

I'm ten tracks in and so far I'm really liking this. I liked 1999 when it dropped but it was never one of my favorite projects. I slept on Summer Knights. Never got around to listening to that. B4.DA.$$ is gonna be in rotation for awhile though. I really like it so far.
