I just dont want Joey spittin over a Swizz beat cuz Jay said so..

hes gonna do it if he has the opportunity

honestly joey seems like a gullible kid who IMO will be in the same position as the young gunz and beans n them now. basically like Fck jayz.

i like joeys raw style but its not raw enough to not get diluted by tracks and hooks. once that mainstream bug bites that ngga is dyin of the flu.

Joey's idol is Hov, not only that, but when you hear 1999 u hear that Joey's aspirations in this rap shyt is to achieve commercial and mainstream success.

So none of that dilutes Joey's initial goals as an MC before signing with Jay

God I hope not.

It seems like people forgot how j.cole had to push his album back, damn near fight for his life just to get hov's verse on mr. Nice watch.

And we not even gonna talk about jay ele or anyone eles in roc nation.

Well, this part simply isn't true

by 1998 even jay-z wasnt rhyming like jay-z. it was the beginning of the end of his days of tough lyrics and flowin.

had some sparks on the blueprint but otherwise nah.

joey much like kendrick says jay-z is his favorite but rhymes nuthin like him. a quick listen of joeys music shows he is heavily inspired by the 90s.

jay-z is the opposite of the 90s. he helped usher in joeybadass with the whole throwback skateboarder alternative pharell kanye skinny jeans hustler thing he did for the last decade.

but that last decade aint the 90s, it was the new millenium.

brooklyn MCs get sucked into a vortex where there best material becomes b*stardized. seems like BK is the pioneer of this.

papoose, mosdef, talib, o.d.b., kane, BIG. joey is no different.

i dont think it will make a damn difference...jay got multiple artists signed to roc nation for artist and management purposes and you dont hear nothin from them really.....look how long it took j.cole to bubble after he got signed to jay..and it took him even longer just to get a jay verse....i never heard joey badass music but i see his name alot and i think he can continue to grow and build his brand by himself without Jay....jay track record for establishin artists aint been that good

all of that was false imagery

Cole fighting to get a Jay verse, not having any pictures with Jay, etc. its all strategic to play into the image of Cole being an underdog. his album was called the fukking SIDELINE STORY for christ sake.

I dont know how yall fall for these blatant marketing ploys. I wouldnt be surprised if the whole waiting in the rain to give Jay-Z a demo story was made up. this rap shyt is faker than daphne rosen's t*ts.

Why would Jay sign another one note underground nikka after the Jay Electronica fiasco? Not hating on Joey, I love his mixtape. But he needs to show he's capable of more than throwback shyt if he wants a deal in 2013.

People forget that Cole was so pissed off with the album being pushed back, he put out FNL off his own back when most of the songs were made for his debut :ohhh:

:upsetfavre: but by the time the album came out he understood why tho, if he would have released it wit who dat as the single, and caught that brick he would have been damaged goods and probably got dropped, just look at wale wit interscope, lucky wale got on a winning team, but cole out here winning and is in a much better position because of that pushback :winningmanning:

But imo FNL would of been a better debut album quality wise. What song even made Cole blow up like that? im from London and when the warm up first came out i told some people who were like never heard of him.

The FNL dropped still people like who? then outta nowhere people knew all his shyt before the album dropped. :mindblown: went to a concert and was surprised how many people knew all his old stuff. Thats not down to Jay

he released "work out" it didnt catch on fast, so he released "cant get enough" it did good out the gate, and then work out caught on and ended up going plat, and then "cant get enough" going gold and then nobodies perfect went gold

but the thing is he had build up a hugh fanbase before all that wit warm up and fnl, dude was buzzing on college campuses without hits just off those mixtape, and they supported on tour and brought his album, and wit the singles blowing up added more fans
