Why does it have to be about what you get out of it? Why can't it just be "let's be happy for him?"

It's always about what nikkas can get out of somethings which is my point.

Hate to see nikkas make it, and y'all won't admit it.
More straw man bullshyt. Who here has expressed dissatisfaction or anger over this guy "making it"? The fukk are you going on about? No, his personal success doesn't make me happy or move me in the least but that's not what this is about. This thread is about him clarifying comments he made to blacks that were offensive. You're clouding the issue and deflecting with bullshyt. As if this guy being selected as the token in the Star Wars movie is some type of victory for all blacks that should put him above criticism. I don't give a fukk about him making it or not, what he said was c00n shyt and it should be criticized. Truth be told, blacks aren't critical enough. It's too many people like you who are so happy for any kind of pat on the head from massa that you won't even dare question it. You're living vicariously through dude as if you got the pat on the head or something. Get off that bug eyed ashy mouthed shyt.

You know...for people who make their bread and butter by being intimate with the media, celebs tend to not think about what they say

I know if I was a celebrity or famous person, I would always ALWAYS be clear and concise with my statements so that no one could ever misconstrue their meaning or attempt to grab a soundbite.

I just wouldn't interact with the general public period. I'd just disappear. Like Frank Ocean did.

lol. Yet another example of why you need to stop supporting black entertainers and stop supporting skin color

What this fakkit won't focus on is the amount of black british actors making their way to hollywood due to the lack of roles and opportunity in their entertainment industry

So instead of building on that experience from his own country, and listening to the plight of the few black american actors willing to talk truth about Hollywood, he instead chose to trivialize the critiques by american black folks, about wanting more opportunities for him to work

Dude is beginning to become really suspect..

I rode with him through the Star Wars controversy because he's a young dude trying to get his foot in the industry and he DID directly address and shyt on the Cacs who were so upset that their precious white space opera was getting a bonafide black lead. He ALSO went on several television and radio appearances talking about how proud he was to be a black man, which is definitely something we need more of our media representers to proclaim..

But then the movie dropped and his character was "emasculated negro step n' fetch" 101. Absolutely HATED everything about his character and how he was portrayed. Now of course we in the black community SHOULD know better and I gave wayyyyy too much credit to the marketing of the movie which depicted him the compete OPPOSITE of what he turned out to be.

So he's a 23 year old aspiring actor, I may say fukk Star Wars and certainly fukk that "driving Miss Rey" character known as Finn he portrayed, but I wouldn't go so far as to condemn the brother, who jumped at the opportunity and was (apparently) mislead.

But then he jumps on board the fakkit express and endorses a homosexual pairing that had NO SUBTEXT WHATSOEVER in the film:martin:

Then he's telling blacks to "stop complaining" about being ostracized and having our contributions in the advancement of film, television, acting, writing, and producing IGNORED by the industry :what:

Breh is getting dangerously close to hopping on the c00n express
i was right next to him on the night when he said stop complaining n this shyt was taken out of context.

I'm not saying this out of any bias, but give dude a break. He's young, he's learning. At least he clarified the shyt he said and hasn't forgotten where he comes from. shyt, there's some actors here that would never say some of the earlier stuff he said out of fear. People are always looking for a Marcus Garvey/Khalid Muhammad hybrid whenever some new blood comes out and end up getting disappointed. I wasn't that keen on his character in Star Wars either...tbh I thought the movie was boring and a couple of my friends I went with actually fell asleep lol and one of them actually knows the breh.

EDIT: I think Aml Ameen would have brought that role more justice though.

He's 100% correct.

He's a hustler in a sense, he can come up with a lot of excuses but he's not stopping for nothing.

We do need to stop complaining, especially since all the complaining is because cacs don't pat us on the head and tell us "good job". He was talking about us doing stuff for ourselves which many of us on here say, but as expected there are a lot of emotional responses here.

I swore I thought this was obvious breh but you know how it goes breh.

I understand what he was trying to say, fukk a handout, fukk acceptance do it yourself, get it yourself, build your own empire not try to rule someone elses.
