Part of the reason I don't fukk with the tournament or any college sports.

A 16 year old can go play soccer in bumfukk, Columbia some where and make 200k a year till he's 21 and have a million to sit on if he gets hurt. While a world-class NCAA athlete can possibly play for 4 years and get nothing and prolly won't even have a degree to show for it.

In any other country the NCAA is disbanded, Mark Emmert and all those cronies are charged with grand larceny and fraud.

Student athletes :heh:
Just let the dudes go pro.

Otherwise, stay that ass in school and manage your time better.

I don't wanna hear any complaining out of these "student athletes"

indeed..

forcing athletes to be students, is like forcing some frail nerd to participate in football alongside of all his studies. Athletes get accepted to colleges because they are excellent in sports, just like a student excels in academics.

Both tasks require a lot of work. I dont think athletes get too much respect for the amount of work and training it takes to try to be top level, because of the whole dumb jock thing, and nerds being jealous. The free education thing is a nice perk, athletes need to take advantage of that, but you dont have the time for like a stem major, etc.

It's like giving that nerd free access to footballs and baseball batting cages...it's nice yet he'll rarely use it, but in order to continue on with studying, he must spend at least 2 hours in the batting cages and 1 hour running routes in full pads.

School for athletes is just like for students, it's to help them advance to the next level, and paid internships exist. The difference is that 2% going pro stat, most of these athletes are really getting screwed
The only solution to this is letting the students go pro whenever they want to like in soccer.

I see no need to support athletes getting paid ON TOP of getting these elite scholarships.

Otherwise, don't give them scholarships and pay them.

Regardless, too much NON-academic resources are wasted on these kids.

damn they dont even have to pay them millions either. im sure every student athlete would be happy with a $1500 a month allowance or something. if they had done that since the beginning they wouldnt even have problems. so evil.
nah, cause then it just gets bumped up more and more and more.

Thats the slippery slope fam.

Then you'll have small schools with more money paying more than bigger schools and you'd get this whole clusterfukk of kids trying to go to schools based on payment and not quality of the program.

These students need reform of the student-athlete program...not payment.

Kids at D1 schools get ALL the resources they could ever want (especially major sports) without a cheque.

This is why they just need to remove the barrier to going pro or come up with a separate program of development for universities so they're not totally students. Just call the sports programs something separate as sports academies or something.

Student Athletes aren't supposed to have easy lives per se. Its hard work.

If they want to be paid, be good enough to go pro :manny:

And I have no problem paying these coaches millions of dollars. They have amazing records, helps retain coaching talent, and develops elite teams.

Jut let them hold a job and make money off their likeness. Everybody eats, everybody gets that money.
Why the NCAA needs to be so greedy I'll never understand. They (and the colleges) brought this on themselves.

Oh, but you have a problem wasting non-academic resources on student athletes. But by all means use those same resources on the coaches.
