That's why I don't watch college sports. I hate seeing young black men go out like that.

Key word...black. Yep, this circles back to racism too.

Imagine how the economic dynamics of this country would change if athletes were being paid what they should get. Cacs not having that, too many black families for at least those four years might use that money wisely.

Blacks would actually have a even start in life. Be able to purchase things like homes while receiving an education at the same time. I'm talking about fair payment....A few hundred thousand maybe millions for some athletes.

so your reply is "its too complicated to figure out something fair so just let them get fukked :yeshrug:"
My reply is that it would be unfair and calculate something thats functionally impossible.

You'd also complain that the girls versions of the guy sports wouldn't get as much funding.

You can't pay these guys for popularity and avoid the controversy when some sports (new ones like ultimate frisbee) get more popularity and these dudes are bytching

they said a billi is made during march madness alone...

give these kids at least a flat 50k a year at a minimum. less for div 2 and so on. but give them something, this is absurd. Kids in other countries be going pro before 18 and shyt right? I don't think they have a fukked up college system for sports do they?

In any other country the NCAA is disbanded, Mark Emmert and all those cronies are charged with grand larceny and fraud.

Student athletes :heh:

its literally a form of modern day slavery, you work hard and all you get is a non guaranteed scholarship, food and a shared room

Dude is usually on point but was on another level with this rant. The NCAA's so scared that of paying football and basketball players cause they know the other "student-athletes" will be asking next.

football and basketball carry most school whole athletic department, while some schools its hockey. But for the majority its those schools.

lol at a coach making like 3,4,,6 million dollars while you play for friggin free

So we're gonna overlook the irony of track and field, swimming, golf, lacrosse, and other sports that aren't "black" or are we just gonna let you ramble on about the understanding of WTF a scholarship is?

Who gives a fukk?

Successful enterprises deserve to make money.

The issue is the NCAA not letting these kids go pro.

Everything else is a moot point.

If little Pepe from the favelas wants to join the U18 team and start for the Brazil national team, so be it. Davon should be able to start at Point Guard on the Celtics. :manny:

You wanna go to SCHOOL, then be a student. All this athlete shyt, while being a time for prime development, need to be reformed so that a better understanding is had:

1. You have the chance to get an education that will last you when you inevitably don't go pro, since many NCAA sports do not have professional leagues following them
2. You have to balance the burden of being a D1 athlete and the struggles of staying up on what it takes to be a top athlete. If you can't handle it, thats a gamble you're going to have to make. Class isn't going to get easier because you can't figure out how to balance the two.
3. You will not be paid. You will get all the assistance necessary to succeed as a STUDENT first and foremost, but this is amateur league. IF you wanna go get paid you must go pro (and this is where the NCAA and pro-leagues should change) you have the chance to do so...if aren't at this university.

Yeah, I'm sure they generate a billion in revenue for two weeks out of an entire year, annually.

Yup.
So?

Don't tell me you care about these kids, when you really don't.

Its just entertainment to you, so lets talk about structuring what STUDENT-athletes can benefit from (and coming from someone who played soccer in high school and IM in college) and not be exploited...but universities make money hand over fist from a whole host of sources...not all of it from sports. Do students get a cut off of that?

Hell no.

So lets not confuse this interaction between AMATEURS at a school seeking to be drafted for THREE MAIN SPORTS (baseball, football, basketball...and increasingly soccer) for the other complications and seemingly incongruent problems not seen in the other NCAA sports.
