My nikka said WHAT DO THEY GIVE TO THE SCHOOL?

Lmaoooooo..... let's take Johnny Manziel - between jerseys, his likeness in video games, Johnny Football t-shirts and memorabilia, crowds he attracted to games, and the advertising interest he brought to the school, I can easily estimate he was worth AT LEAST tens of millions of dollars of revenue to Texas A&M.

Now what is someone on the debate team, or science fair bringing to the table financially to even belong in the same conversation as that person?

So?

If he wants any of that, he should go pro.

The school gave him all of that shyt as a result of a free education. He can take advantage by playing well enough to be drafted.

Folks is mad that he killed off all those ncaa games and shyt.:francis:

OK, since you cleared it up I will too.

So you have no problem with colleges wasting academic resources (money, room, faculty space, etc.) on coaches, but have a large problem using said resources on student athletes?
Absolutely. Coaches bring students who aren't quality players into their own by their junior or senior years. That development is free to the student.
you realize that the coaches salaries come from the same pot academically, right?:frogbiz:
They're apart of the university and help the profile of the campus in exchange for helping some kids go pro. I see no problem with it

Just admit your a hypocrite, breh. ADMIT IT.
Theres nothing hypocritical about it. You just don't understand the nature of the interaction taking place as a result of some selectively edited clip about someone who fukked up their refund check.
If you want to treat the student athletes as amateurs, the coaches should be amateurs too and paid (or not) as such :ohhh:
Coaches get paid market value dummy.

Thats not a reason that has any rational u just simply don't want it because u think it doesn't fit your narrow definition just like a republican
Theres nothing "republican" (of which i'm not) about wanting AMATEURS to prove their worth enough to go pro.

And miss me with this preferential treatment to bigger sports.

The entitlement.... :wow:

but if you saw someone else making money off you, you would be cool with it right? :francis:
Professors do it off dumbass kids who take ridiculous classes, but no one bats an eye.

These are people who enroll in UNIVERSITIES first and foremost. I don't care how much the school makes...these "athletes" are a mere entertainment draw.

Thats it.

Lets not confuse what sports are to you all.

As members of the franchise, they get all of the training and development necessary to eventually go pro if they so choose.

If not, they won't. Its simple. Take advantage of that degree as an insurance policy against your future should your goal not work out and be grateful for the experience.

I've already laid out my plan for reform ad nauseam.

Its just like a republican they always argue to compensate people that are not in a position of power to very little or no at all while they want the powerful to remain wealthy even when they do very little.

@Napoleon u said a whole lot of nothing comparing student athletes to regular students and time management.
Or you just don't like the argument that I don't think these students truly do enough to be paid for their efforts.

Playing college sports is tough. But theres a reason they're called COLLEGE sports.

the reason these dudes need to get at least an allowance of some sort is because

UNLIKE REGULAR STUDENTS, STUDENT ATHLETES CANT GET JOBS FOR BASIC NEEDS THAT SCHOLARSHIPS DONT COVER.
Reform the scholarship program to allow for work-study level employment. The restrictions on this is a result of proven abuse that has been shown to take place. I have no problem with the ban, but until a plan can be introduced that reduces corruption and allows equity in such opportunities, then so be it.

just because u getting a free education doesnt mean anybody is gonna feed u or clothe u.
Full scholarships include all of the traditional room and board.

jalen rose's example is a good one. my little brother was up in school and my mom had to send him some money every week just so he could eat and buy shyt he needed like toiletries. if she didnt have a good job, she would have been struggling to pay bills while making sure her son was ok.
Did he have a full scholarship? And why did he not take out additional loans? Like every other STUDENT?

how the hell was jalen rose supposed to get any type of part time work while having to go to school and study and practice and travel across the country to play ball?
So is it a matter of him not working or not having time? Cause now you're not making any sense. :sas1:

why is it so unfair in your eyes to hook these kids up with just 1500-2000 a month, across all sports, just so they can have their basic needs met?
Because the basal resources across all schools vary.

I'm ok with standardizing the refund schedule of full academic scholarships, but until thats done, equality seems to be the best policy to me.

doesnt even have to be the whole school year, just during the seasons of their respective sports. during the offseasons, they on their own to get a part time job.
too messy.

and my solution still isnt even fair when u got white a$$holes getting rich as fukk off their labors, but its a start.
So earn your stripes and stop trying to be a boss at the amateur level.

You wanna roll in the dough? Go pro.

how can that not be fair?
Because these are amateurs.

then the colleges should drop all the endorsements if its about development
Colleges exist to make money.

The players are merely members of the university, as is everyone else.

There is amateur competition for a reason. There is professional competition for a reason.

And sports aren't the only thing that make money for universities. So until you stop with this selective slobbering over sports, just because you love them so much, then you won't understand the spirit of what amateur development should encompass.

You're not going to change my mind by bringing up some stories of a poor kid who's struggling. His shot was to play big sports at a big school. Thats it. All this hand-holding is just more emotional nonsense to muddy the waters that decisions have to be made.

Getting paid doesn't give them more hours in a day. Unless we pay all students who get scholarships...but wait...we do! They get everything covered! :stopitslime:

dude, its unfair no matter how u slice it. i had a whole long ass reply but its a waste of time. u cant just make millions off of a group of people and set up rules where they get suspended or lose their scholarships just for trying to make a few pennies off of their own work. if you going to exploit these kids for millions and not give them a piece of the pie, u an a$$hole piece of shyt. fukk, at least let them make their own damn little pies off the leftover dough. fukk the "integrity of amateur sports" bullshyt. its just greed.
