Uncertain grounds
The more I thought about it, Coach Thompson was the last of the Old Guard since Pete Newell died.
And the only ones I’ve heard of that still teach the Post Game are Kareem and Ewing...

Lowkey: Georgetown Big Man IMO was one of the legacy positions in sports
(Lakers Center/Yankees CF/Dodgers Catcher/Cowboys QB/Notre Dame QB/USC RB, etc.)
...where you expect results because the system seems to let that position flourish.
I mean, because of Coach Thompson, you had some respect for Othella Harrington, Jahidi White,
Roy Hibbert, and Haseem Thabeet - even if they weren’t great.

agreed

just to note that thabeet was uconn though

we've lost some great black men in 2020. Historical figures that 100 years from now little kids will read about and admire in awe. Black men you'd want your children to look up to and John Thompson was one of those black men.

Big fukkin facts bro

Thompson is part of American history that can't be erased he helped raise thousands of men and women just through his work alone. We not even speaking on the personal things he's done for humanity on his own time.

didn't Thompson used to do a lot of TNT games too?

He did. One broadcast, I remember whoever the coach of the Nets was at the time was on the hot seat. Coach's name was thrown around as a possible replacement.
His TNT partner (don't remember who it was at the time) tried to get him to comment on-air about his interest in the job. He said he'd love to coach in the NBA but he's not gonna speak on the man's job while he still has it.

That integrity :wow:

Not going to lie, growing up I thought Georgetown was a HBCU because of his presence. I was ignorant AF growing up where I did, but him and his team exuded a certain cache.
Everyone thought that. I didn't know until applying for college and reading that old war and peace sized Barron's college book and seeing the requirements and make up of the school. I fell back. LOL
