In real time, maybe 8-9 years ago in a thread on here, i was definitely of the belief that Wall was the better basketball player than Beal. In a sense, i guess Beal won that argument, even if due to injuries (and even if it's not saying much given Beal these past few years). However Wall was definitely one of those players you rooted for bc he just looked cool in everything he did. Kinda like a Steve Francis-again even if the efficiency and wins didn't coincide with it all.
Beal definitely lost that argument. The emptiest numbers ever

Dude was in Vegas and could have learned how to be a pro and mature with the Olympics experience and instead he was in the club every night

I'd put John above Arenas. Because John led teams into the 2nd round and within a couple of plays of the Eastern Conference Finals twice. Arenas got hurt in 2007 and was never the same.

But yeah, those old Bullets are a cut above. Especially the guys who won the championship!

Only 11 seasons. We got robbed by injuries. John can still play the game but he didn't adapt his game for when his speed would leave him.

John had HOF talent. His highs were really high, but too many moments where he needed to lead and immaturity showed. I blame the organization though. Plus lack of professionalism around him especially when he was in his first couple seasons surrounded by guys like Nick Young and Andray Blatche. He became a DC nightlife legend. Got too cool for school.

Ted Leonsis should have gotten rid of Ernie Grunfeld before John was even drafted. A new regime would have made that whole era work better.
I think another factor that isn’t talked about is he never really recovered from the death of his mom. I think once his athleticism was gone, the death of his mother killed any motivation he really had to be invested in reinventing himself like say Derrick Rose did.

I’m not understanding all this love lol… like what did he really do in the league?

He was a baller simple as that.......people love and appreciate ballers it's all about just having the proper perspective. We not gon put him on the level of PGs with more accomplishments, but he was still a baller

Raleigh legend. He's essentially to Raleigh, what Iverson is to the Seven Cities; obviously he isn't anywhere near Iverson's stature in The League or Basketball Culture overall.....but here in Raleigh, he's iconic and a legend.

People watched him grow up with a pretty tough background, work his way thru that background to become the #1 recruit in the nation in his class. Have a successful (albeit brief) college career, go to the NBA and fight thru injuries and organizational dysfunction to become one of the better players in the game (in the mid-2010s he was a Top 15 player for a few years stretch)...

And thru all of that, he stayed committed to and giving back to Raleigh. Had plenty of off court issues just like Iverson too, we know part of what derailed his career, is he was just as concerned with his off court activities, as he was on court.

But people here saw him grow from a boy to a man, know his journey and his story. He was a fun player to watch at his peak...

@getmoney310cpt I can't recall but didn't you either play with, or against Wall on one of the NC AAU squads?
I thought he was already retired.
You just got out the joint? 🤣 where you been fam?
His playing style always had a short shelf life if he didn’t develop a consistent jump shot. I don’t think he underachieved, he met expectations given the rosters he’s been on and his injuries.
I mean he had a similar play style as Westbrook and Westbrook played 17 years. It ain't his play style that gave him the short shelf life...

I'd give it more to PJ Tucker. He be everywhere here in the offseason.
