So using this logic, he is\was a better college player than CAM?

if we're judging one for one seasons which each of them had, you can't say he's not equal at least.

A&M went from being a 3rd tier team in the Big 12 to beating Alabama

Manziel broke the rule period...regardless of the situation he knew...and broke...the rule..for money.

He should be ineligible period. SI knew the deal and could have ran with the story but only saw smoke..i respect them for not half reporting.

:manny:

He did have a phenom type year......

If going by season production I guess it would be hard to say who is better from a technical standpoint

College sports isnt a job. And some jobs DO pay in education...both internships and graduate education tuiton.

Think first kiddo.
What job other than College football do people have specialized skills and work at a place where they add millions of dollars to bottom line and they don't get paid CASH MONEY in return for there services?

There are only two businesses that get to have free labor.

College sports and slavery

Both, provide free room and board.

:what:

If your job decided to start paying you in education would you be ok with that?

how many schools break even enough to pay players
yeah UA makes a lot of money, but what about all these other schools with smaller budgets
that money generated goes back into the school for other projects sometimes also.
where the money coming from to pay these athletes?

since its heading towards that, sure go ahead and pay they players, its just where the money coming from

Paying plyers is not gonna happen.

For the hundredth time, yeah it's easy to look at school like Bama, Texas, OU, etc and say they should be paying their players. Those are big schools that make a ton of money....but what about the smaller D-1 schools? How do they compete with that? Now you have a situation where the big schools can essentially offer more money so obviously they're gonna get all the players.

Less than half qualify academically for the schools they get in

I'm in favor of players getting higher stipends and getting money if their likeness is used (I propose that money get put in a fund and the players receive that check or payments after they get outta school). But how would you pay players equally? Wouldn't the big schools just outbid everybody? Would the QB make more than the DE or RG? I just don't think it's feasible to pay college athletes especially when the majority of these players don't match the economic impact the school invests in them based on the free services given to football players that I listed above

How should players be paid? Simple: let them earn money outside of the university.

If Nike wants Johnny Football as their spokesman and he's cool with it, why can't he sign.

Sure, the popular players will most likely get the big checks, but that's only natural. As for those who aren't that well known, they can try to put their name out there, just like everyone else does.

We're perfectly fine with EVERYONE else in this country (hell in this planet), earning money in such a way. Why is it different with the athletes?

I don't know and the plan doesn't have to be perfect .

Something is better than nothing

Maybe those schools don't need a football if you can't afford to pay the players
Just like a business, if you can't afford to pay the players yo

So what about CFB would change in your scenerio?

The big time college schools already get the best recruits.

Small schools can't compete now

I knew you were gonna use that excuse. :rudy:

Look at how many (great) players come from non-powerhouse schools.

You'd have dudes like say Ben Roethisberger, Aaron Rodgers, Eli Manning etc., going to an Alabama, Ohio St.,, etc just to sit on the bench and NEVER play b/c those schools offer more money
