A 7 foot center not being a good defender vs super quick shooters means he can’t play in an era that look like slow motion with 2025 eyes 
In that old basketball he wouldn’t have been left alone to guard a 3 and a mobile 4-5 in the pant.
The analysis people do is too basic. It’s like, let’s take a 2025 play that prioritizes different. And insert a player from that dynamic into another one and say, see it doesn’t work. As if those players can’t adapt to different circumstances. And the opposite is true as well. Ie 90s dudes adapting to high pace high volume zone defense basketball.

Every great player in history was not a great defender. On one hand he would thrive not having to worry about switching out on the perimeter and he is more than capable of banging 
with anybody. On the other he's not who you want as your last line of defense when you cant zone up to keep elite drivers from the rim. Thats something you can work around though. The truly great players can figur le it out in any era.

At 6'11 280 with his skillset Joker is going to ball out in ANY era and time. He's got to many things he does good for him not to be a factor on the court regardless of who he is playing against. Might not be the greatest defender but what he brings to the offensive end kind of balances that out considering the opposite center is going to have to work just as hard to stop him too.

I'm actually not mad at his defense in the video. It wasn't great, but for the most part he did what he was supposed to do.
