Randle situation:
Joseph Randle faces 1- or 2-game suspension - NFL.comThe Cowboys have another off-the-field issue on their hands.
Joseph Randle is facing a one- or two-game suspension for violating the league's personal-conduct policy due to an offseason arrest, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday, per sources informed of the process.
ESPN first reported the story.
Here's Rapoport's report in full:
"Cowboys running back Joseph Randle was deemed to have violated the NFL's personal-conduct policy for a recent arrest in Wichita, Kansas. He received the report (Wednesday), which was part of the reason he exited the Cowboys facility. The charges were dropped, but the league kept investigating. He faces a one- or two-game suspension (not a six-game suspension because it's not domestic violence related), or he could be potentially fined. The main offense is firearm related. The NFL and NFL Players Association are in discussions now about a potential settlement to Randle's issue."
Randle was arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana in his hometown of Wichita back in February. At the time, the Wichita Police Department told NFL Media that officers were contacted by a 22-year-old female who reported a disturbance with a 23-year-old male. There was a report of a handgun at the scene, but responding officers did not find a weapon, nor did they find injuries sustained by the female.
Manziel situation:
Manziel unlikely to face discipline for roadside incident - NFL.comJohnny Manziel appears to be in the clear.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that theCleveland Browns quarterback is not expected to be disciplined for his role in a roadside incident earlier this month, according to sources informed of the situation. Manziel met with an NFL investigator on Wednesday in regard to the incident that involved his girlfriend on Oct. 12.
Johnny also took first-team reps during Wednesday's practice andis expected to do the same on Thursday in place of veteran starterJosh McCown, who continues to nurse the shoulder he injured inSunday's loss to the St. Louis Rams.
Browns coach Mike Pettine told reporters that McCown would practice Thursday on a limited basis. In his place last Sunday, Manziel went 4-for-5 passing against the Rams, his first action since throwing for 172 yards and two scores in a Week 2 win over the Tennessee Titans.
Play-caller John DeFilippo said Thursday that he isn't overly concerned about McCown missing snaps during the week, saying that the 36-year-old "has had most of the first-team reps since the start of camp," per the Plain Dealer. McCown's status for Sunday's home tilt against the red-hot Cardinals will boil down to where he is on the pain scale 48 hours from now.
