It was also a different style of play than what is played now. Allen was playing against what will be vastly inferior competition compared to NFL corners/defenses in a winter city which makes it even worse for QBs with accuracy issues. Baker and Darnold will have the same issues to a lesser degree because they both have streaks of inaccuracy too, but games in Buffalo with a coaching staff that seemingly has no idea how to coach a QB (The Peterman/SD game was on the staff) + that same coaching staff getting changes with an OC with a garbage background + a FO with a history of not being able to get weapons up there + a fanbase with a history of expecting the worst means his chances of being anything other than a bust is slim to me.

If he had landed in Pittsburgh like your boy Dobbs it'd be a different conversation.....I'm far as I'm concerned Lamar is going to be amazing if he understands how to protect himself on the field because Harbs will protect his development. Rosen will be good too if he can manage to stay on the field because he's brittle as fukk. The rest? Meh.

Not for Josh Allen. He played in a pro-style traditional offense. Its Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold that were playing in offenses that inflated their stats.

Also everyone other than Lamar Jackson was playing against inferior competition as well. Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson were the only 1st round QBs who were on teams that were not more talented than their opponents. Its not like Wyoming recruits better than other teams in their conference and we all know Louisville had way less talent than most of the teams in the ACC like Clemson and Florida State. Baker Mayfield played with more talent at Oklahoma than his opponents in the Big 12 almost every game. Same with Darnold (USC) and Rosen (UCLA) in the Pac 12.

The quality of competition argument actually helps Josh Allen. Because although he was more talented than his opponents, his teammates were not. And that is what matters in football cause its a team sport. Josh Allen wasn't out there blocking and running routes as well.

Southern California…
Bust...however I think his first few years could look decent off the fact shady in the backfield for the next 2 years and teams will focus on playing 8 in the box

However their receivers isn't anything to write home about
