He needs to go to a team full of veterans that have a pecking order on offense. At best he is a 3rd option on a good team.

Some people on here act like he can be a 1st or 2nd option on a championship caliber team. You have problems when you have a guy like Smith as your 1st or 2nd option.:mjpls:
He's not going to the Lakers unless you offer Dwight so move on bro. No one wants Gasol. You can't even give him away.

:mindblown: u cant do that

but whats even more puzzling is WHY would any team trade for a 19mill dollar player then amnesty him in the off season; yet still have to pay that 19mill to him :what:

lol exactly..

That's like saying.. "I don't want the players talent or the cap space from the expired contract...Just allow me to pay him a grip for signing this paper"....

Cole from Martin an NBA GM now?

so instead of signing role players in free agency you'd rather them trade for the highest paid role player, the one you can't wait to get rid of?

Acquiring players that aren't as good just to avoid having unused cap space is retarded as fukk.

Why would I want to sign role players? When has a team of role players won a championship in the league? Role players aren't going to win you anything when your team is lacking a real 1st and 2nd option on offense.

No, acquiring a player now for someone who is going to walk away for free is a smart move. The difference between a solid GM and a very good GM is he will be able to flip that expiring contract for good players.

Who did Mitch get for Grant, Odom, Butler, and a first round pick? :manny:

That's fine if there are players who want to play for the Hawks.

Who are they going to sign without making the player one of the highest paid players in the league?

Pek, Bynum, Dwight coming back home leaving terrible LA, CP3, or Jennings. All would be need players. If we missed, sign role players to overpriced 1 year deals, tank, and try again. It's that simple.

Atlanta To New Orleans
Matter of fact, now that I think about it... blow this team up completely.

Let Josh walk (I really don't give a fukk about him anymore), get a decent package for Horford, and if Teague has to go, get him up outta here. Just start over completely in the draft and sign/keep some decent vets.

Oh, and fire Larry Drew regardless. That man couldn't coach a 6th grade basketball game. :bryan:

Bynum? You're going to give a guy a max deal that has not been healthy for a full season and has chronic knee problems. :wow:

Why would Dwight go back home to Atlanta when he wants to play for a contender in a big city? Dwight wants to stay in a big market with a chance to win a ring. Atlanta does not provide that. He needs to play for a basketball city.

CP3 ain't going anywhere especially to a team like the Hawks.

Did you forget that these players can get way more money re-signing with their own team than free agency?:shaq2:

Jennings is nothing special. He will never lead a team to a ring. Are you suggesting to him someone like Jennings a max deal? :wow:

Why would a player sign a one year deal when there is a chance he can get injured and cost his millions? Players want guaranteed contracts with security. A one year deal does not provide that.

:ohhh: Elaborate breh :guilty:

Only Teams With Caps Space Can Bid On Amnestied Players, Those Bids Never Go Too High

Lets Say Someone Picks Up Pau For 5 Mill Bid, The Hawks (We're Assuming This Is His Team In This Scenrio) Have To Pay Him The Rest Of His 19 Million

So Basically The Hawks Will Be Paying Him 14 Million To Play For Someone Else

No, you can't trade for a player and amnesty him for starters. With that said, if the Lakers amnestied Gasol, that's what would happen.
