Because they have reservations about giving a fringe starting PG, max-level dollars at the end of the deal? Stop being simple

The only reason I've heard that makes even a little bit of sense as to why they should match is "they can't do shyt else with their cap situation, might as well".

Honestly I'd rather have Lin than Felton over the next three years. We've seen Felton's ceiling, the jury is still out on Lin. Bigger risk, but also bigger potential reward. The luxury tax issue is a concern, but its only one year and the assumption seems to be that they would more than recoup that in the first year with sponsorship/ad/season tix revenue. Assuming that's true, worst case scenario Lin gets exposed this year, loses the starting job next year and is Toney Douglas status by year 3 when he makes 15 mil. They ride that year out and start over somewhere else.

Ray Felton averages 14 & 7 for his career. If Lin does that for the next 3 years, people will be happy. That's why you don't give a player of his caliber a 15 million dollar kicker

You a 49ers fan who though they would beat the giants :stopitslime: that's stupid enough .
Look you don't follow the knicks the melo comments were taken out of context end of story and jr took less money to stay in NYC he could say whatever he wants. Why do you even care your not a Knicks fan ? Knicks fans don't care why do you? Go Stan Alex smith

You're confusing me with someone else. I'm one of the more realistic 9er fans on here..hell...I'm more of a pessimistic fan. I hate Alex Smith with a passion, so :stopitslime: at the "Go Stan Alex Smith" comment. I also thought the 9ers COULD beat the Giants. I didn't think say WOULD. And really, the Giants almost lost that game, so unpuff ya chest.

Breh, this is a messageboard, giving my opinion on a topic does not mean I care. The only person that cares in this discussion is you and it's clear as day to see by your emotional outbursts thus far. I personally don't think players should talk about $$$ publicly...whether it be theirs or someone else.

Felton was flabby and sick this past year, if HE does 14 and 7 the next three years I'll be happy, big if though.

As for the kicker, eh its sucks, but its one year. If Lin is putting up 14 and 7 and the Knicks are looking like a contender it won't bother me. Besides on a team with Melo and Stat I don't really want him taking a bunch of shots. 15 and 11 range with Stat and Melo eating and it doesn't look as bad.

Here's an interesting article on the numbers:

Im not saying anything unreasonable.

Was I in favor of the Melo trade no, I wasnt.

Do I think the Knicks are a better team with Jeremy Lin than Raymond Felton? yes, I do.

Do I think CAA/Melo have too much influence over Dolan and the roster and do I think Melo was uncomfortable with Linsanity- yes , I do.

Did I think the second WOodson was brought in Dantoni was a goner? Yes. Was melo trying to get Dantoni fired by dogging it? Yes.

Was Woodson forced to fire his agent and sign with CAA to fall in line with MSG's plans? Yes, I think so too.

These are my stances. All in all I just want the team to win basketball games, I just think Dolan and his cronies have their priorities mixed up. It's a toxic environment.

I treat the Jets front office with the same disdain with this idiotic new stadium and them trying to CYA with this stupid Tebow trade.

None of that has anything to do with what's being talked about outside of the so called Linsanity/Melo issue. Considering they were at dinner together recently strategizing for the upcoming season, I think those actions say more than your belief about Melo being uncomfortable with Linsanity.

That being said, this alleged issue was talked about as a possibility on sports radio BEFORE Melo came back and now it turned into a truths because the sports media in this town "felt" that way. You ran with it.

well your guy Alan Hahn is even on record saying that the dinner didnt go well...so take that for what its worth...

it has nothing to do with sports radio....MSG is a CAA operation and they're job is to put their clients in the best light. Linsanity definitely overshadowed Carmelo last season.

whatever. its over....I hope Felton comes in inshape and plays well and the older guys have something left to get this team playing competitive basketball come playoff time.
