You mean Lost Odyssey?

Lost-Odyssey---Xbox-360

Game was CRACK! This needs a remaster across platforms.

This remaster includes one of the GOAT JRPG stories and my pick for best villain in JRPG history (Suikoden 2). It plays great. I'm tryna get it the hype it deserves so we can get remasters of the rest of the series.

Does it have ”turn based” playstyle
No it's action, but a bit clunky. The story and writing is top-notch.

What’s the appeal to jrpgs
I mean it's just RPG's made in Japan nowadays. Elden Ring and Monster Hunter are games that are JRPG's even though they feel closer to what you see in Western RPG's. Tbh overtime JRPG's and WRPG's have influenced each other.

I guess the big thing between the difference in majority of JRPG's is that it focuses more on characters and storytelling. Along with holding a lot of influence from anime in the art style. Also, the gameplay experience is usually very, very linear.

Typically, WRPG's it offers a lot more freedom. As less focus on story usually and you can set your own experience.

All the big franchises in JRPG land either dropped within the last 12 months or are dropping later this year...Ys, Mana, Saga...in addition to the obvious ones

Incredible renaissance for the genre
Yep, I don't think SE is even close to be back in prime form but I really fukking love how they keep remaking/remastering their more obscure titles, fukking Live a Live and Romancing Saga ffs, Actraiser!

Add to that Konami back with Suikoden, Sega and Atlus kicking ass, a new tales coming out any moment know.
