I thought it was alright. I wasn’t a fan of this Namor and apparently I’m in the minority.
Didn’t like him either. He should have looked like how he does in the comics.

This dude coulda been more like Namor’s son or someone from his tribe.

It was a great movie but an obvious sign of things to come and the erasure of black men…even the way big ass Mbaku was reduced to comedic fodder :sas2:

A lil anecdote that’s telling: In the workplace ‘diversity and inclusion’ has replaced affirmative action. AA was about black men first, black women second. With DI, it refers to the new minorities which is women first—-all races—-and then “people of color”. Black men have gone from 1st in the pecking order to technically unlisted.

Where I work I’m the only black male, there’s 2 black women, then a ton of women and a bunch of Asian/Spanish/Europeans. By the new code, we are diverse. There is no thought to add more black men. So when you see this move; that’s what you see. Black women, women in general, and the new star character is Latin. By the new code, it’s diverse. They don’t need to include black men. If you can’t see that, it shows how subtle the change is being done

Bingo. No man left to run things and Shuri fell for Mexican Aqua Man and let him disrespect and kill her mom, THE QUEEN, while she was down in sunken ancient Mexico cupcaking.

:scust::hhh:

All he had to do was be light skinned.

:martin:
As much as I loved the film you right. How was the queen NOT protected like a mf as soon as they started attacking Wakanda? :hhh: Queen probably don't even go to the toilet without a minimum of 4 guards with her but Wakanda getting attacked by not just any enemy but Powerful enemies and she only got that America girl with her smh

Goes to show black people are done for without a strong black male in the "household :ohhh: Maybe Cooler made it as a double entendre. This is what happens when the kings dead but also what happens when the father is out the picture :lupe: They can get the job done(Namor tapped out) BUT not good enough(eventually the Wakandans will be begging them for help when all the UN members attack Wakanda)

-The fukk is this bullshyt? This chick getting talking points from someone else that doesn't know what the fukk they're talking about & can't pronounce Wakanda. Judge stupid ass can't comprehend Namor isn't an actual God & thinks if Black people get technology we shouldn't be able to grill anymore. He had good points about the T'Challa character blended in with a bunch of bullshyt.

-They both need to shut the fukk up.

I guess yall missed the fact that she's in charge and decides her own security detail. Shuri was never promoted to queen and didn't want it. Or the part where they were holding back Namor's soldiers and he was the only one who was able to slip past their defenses because he can fukking FLY. Or the fact that shuri did build flying suits for the Dora and okoye told her that shyts ugly and they ain't wearing it.

And she was clearly not feeling namor. She didn't want to give up a 19 year old to be killed and recognized hes trying to protect his own people too. Apparently having reservations about sacrificing a black child to a foreign people and recognizing their own humanity means you're in love? :what:

I hope people aren't reading this shyt and thinking that's true. Everyone got their own take, anyone reading this should just watch in theaters or streaming and decide for themselves what they think.

It's only on the internet. Black people in real life don't care about this movie.
The few who brought it up to me liked it. There was no grand discussion about it. I haven't seen it. Gonna wait and buy the 2 movie set when Wal Mart starts selling it.

Yeah I still love dvds :flabbynsick:

If we keepin’ it a stack, the entire movie showed what happens when the head BM is absent.. from the very beginning of the film to the very end, the audience was reminded of how much of a loss T’Challa was to Wakanda.

Queen & the council was all over the fukking place and Shuri was unSURE (lol) of herself the entire film

the movie is 6/10 for the pacing and fight scenes, but ion see how a BW could be empowered by this sad ass film.

[post based off title]
TChalla was one man. The whole movie had men shuffling in the background like the servant class. All female soldiers with Team Rope Holders from the mountains. Queens male guards holding up the walls like butlers. That wasnt a “daddy’s gone” theme, that was a “we don’t need men” theme.

When I heard Namor was going to be involved, I decided to avoid the movie since I knew what that was going to mean. In the comics, at least for a small point, it seemed like they were on a quest to make Wakanda more "normal" and conforming to what white comic fans thought of Africa: poor, destitute, and ravaged by conflict/disaster. And while I am glad this hasn't fully happened I can't help but feel as if this always the subtext with these things and is going to happen eventually.

In any case, when the idea of "this is what happens when a strong black man is not around" catches on in regards to this movie, a lot of people who claimed to like it will turn around and say they hate it. And I will be there for it. :blessed:
