there were some great projects this year in the underground (Danny Brown/JPEGMAFIA -Scaring the Hoes, MIKE - Burning Desire, Billy Woods & Kenny Segal - Maps) but the overall game/culture feels anemic as fukk. at least 05-09 had some dope party bangers and felt more upbeat/fun. shyt is just downbeat and depressing right now

i hope 2024 is a game changer year like 2014 was. i'm not expecting a resurgence of bars but at least something new in regards to production.

All I expect from new rap is catchy hooks but these new rappers have no concept of song structure.

The catchiest rap song that dropped this year is Gunna’s “fukumean” and nobody remembers anything he said. They just like the female adlib saying “eeyeah” and “fukk you mean”:yeshrug:

No it's been a good year. You just need to stop expecting actual rap music, rather than pop that has digested some selected aspects of rap, to top the charts etc. That time has passed. There's tons of good rap being made, but it's not what's moving the needle in the pop mainstream
