No lie this is the absolute worst era of Black music ever right now.

Yeah it might be some hidden gems (that most people don't have the time and energy to search for), but overall the overall quality is baaaaad and the shelf life of songs is just weeks.


We still haven't fully recovered from the pandemic. We're in the middle.of a shift because people are getting tired of Call Of Duty & Prostitute Rap being all that's being pushed.

‘14 was definitely better than this year.

YG debut, DeJ Loaf, Speaker Knockerz (RIP), J Cole, Forest Hills Drive, PRhyme, Currensy Drive in theater, Migos’ No Label 2, Future’s Monster, Thug/Quan Rich Gang mixtape (Lifestyle), etc

14 lacked in albums but had a lot of good mixtapes. 23 ain’t no more mixtapes

2009 was complete ass other than DOOMs "born like this"

NYC legends was dropping duds back to back to back.....rakim jay, red, meth, busta, 50, cam, az, fab and raekwon all mid

Wouldn't know. I've only listened to two hip hop projects released in 2023. I've been having too much fun going through the 90s and 2000s. I'll probably get to some more 2023 projects in the next few years.

Tekashi 69 got beat up in the Gym

Jeezy finally divorced Jeannie Mai

The music this year was meh..

The only artist that I was listening would be EST Gee.

People are more interest3d into the backstory of the rappers than the music.

I'd never expect drill to have a resurgence nowadays though. It's bigger than ever now and what's crazy is that Durk doesn't even make drill shyt like that anymore.

I honestly don't know how y'all are remembering specific years like 2014, 2017, 2018....etc

Individual years in rap music stopped standing out to me a long time ago, and it's just been an ongoing era of wackness for like a decade. But sure, I'll say this one was the worst yet
