wise words from a wise co-worker of mine
wise words from a wise co-worker of minethe eurosocialists aren't doing to well.
And the ultimate wilsonist Nation (china) has seriously fukked up because of the state-run companies and government operated business ventures.
seems like all the "in-between" or "comprise" economies have lost too. the kings on the block are the ultra capitalist nations of Singapore, New Zealand and the like. Capitalism won again.
fukk outta here. 4 out of the top 5 best economies in 2013 are Scandinavian countries.Actually it does mean capitalism won
Now you can say that that there could be something better than capitalism but capitalism definitely won, the only thing you can do is build something new on a capitalist foundation
Which capitalism? Which communism? Any historical comparison between the two that abstracts into generalities isn't really productive for discussion. Furthermore, when you say "capitalism won," what you really mean is that capitalist countries used war and politics to prevent communist countries from having a control environment in which their economies could actually be tested (not that I think they would necessarily have been great,) rather than their having been some kind of fair competition between the two.
American style capitalism won over soviet style communism
Yeah capitalist countries used war and politics to gain advantage......and?
That is the reason why they won, I'm not sure what your point is, capitalism countries proved to better at war and politics, there has never been and never will be "fair competition"
Generally, I don't disagree. I don't think they actually stood a chance after 10 or so years of the post-Stalin era.
Therefore, the victories aren't really victories of capitalism. They're victories that allowed capitalism to continue flourishing. The OP's quote has more to do with the actual economic merits rather than the political power differentials of the countries that have historically subscribed to either kind of economy.
Obviously they did, but the reasons they did weren't grounded specifically in capitalism. Most of the communist countries started out underdeveloped by comparison, etc. I mean, the Soviets themselves made a very late jump straight from a cruder feudalism into an attempt at a modern economy. What you're judging isn't strictly a matter of economics.
The power differentials and more advanced economies of the west came about because of..……wait for it.........capitalism
Yeah capitalism also beat feudalism, who would have guessed
Only if you concede that slavery and colonialism to even the point of genocide inherent parts of capitalism, since those Western powers' success is unthinkable without them (massive sources of free or cheap labor, land, and forced resource extraction from elsewhere will boost an economy, obviously.) If that's really where you're trying to go, then I guess I'll leave you to it.
Of course it did. You know even Karl Marx said that, don't you? That has nothing to do with capitalism vs communism, though.
And China lifted 300 million from absolute abject poverty into sustainable working class. This is the single largest poverty reduction program in the history of the world! Probably the most significant Social Event of the 20th Century.
And today China is the 2nd largest economy in the world, growing faster than 90% of world economies, and poised to become the largest by 2016.(IMF 2011)
I didn't know it was a competition
