Blaze was making hip hop . Ye was making pop music .
Yeah. To give some credit to Ye, he definitely showed more vision than Blaze, especially over the long term. Just Blaze never had a sound/signature style like that, and I think it cost him. He says he was one of the first to mess with EDM in beats like "Fire" for Budden, but that it was too early and he got a lot of resistance for it
Lies, this discussion was far before the "cac-friendlyness" and what does gutter have to do with anything? Is Childish Gambino rated higher than 2pac? As in house producers they were producing for the same people.
Just Blaze's sound is more gutter (mostly because he has better drums than Ye), and gutter doesn't work with rhythmless cacs. especially in the mainstream.
One reason to why Kanye is often rated higher is because he produced several complete projects as the greats like Rza, Dr. Dre and Primo and all the way back to Quincy have done.
nah. Kanye is the equivalent of Eminem. A pop-oriented dude who is forced into GOAT convo for marketing/sales but hip hop heads don't really listen to/or rate dude like that. He got destroyed by Swizz in a random beat battle back in 2007.
Just Blaze never dropped classic albums, his shyt was more scattered and I don't think you get the same cred if you don't do that.
neither has Ye, nor is Ye close. With that said, I know what you mean. Ye, with his tents of writers and producers, has a larger discog than Just Blaze so there's more to judge.
The funny thing is that if we counted all of Ye's great beats, and counted all of Just's, I have a feeling the numbers would be even. One or the other might have a few more great beats but it's closer than people think. Just a guess
Ye doesn't have as many great beats as Swizz. That much is certain.
