Nokia and Microsoft are too stubborn. They need to attack the market in a completely different way and they seemingly don't understand the position they are in.
Their battle should be against low end android handsets since Windows Phone is a much more optimized OS for older hardware and they are fukking FAILING HARD by not capitalizing on that little buzz the Lumia 521 had
Build a loyal following in 3-4 years is the way to go about it.
$100 phone (Lumia 521) in 2013 and market videos showing it performs just as fast with everyday tasks such as the iPhone and flagship android phones
$100 phone in 2014 and do the same...put the foot on their neck. Crush them with the value image
$200 phone in 2015 - still cheaper than whatever google will probably be doing with the nexus line
$300 phone in late 2015 - match the nexus line in price
$400 phone in mid 2016 - increase the price, but justify it against the big dogs like the iPhone and Galaxy...and still undercut them by $200+ out of contract...heavily subsidize to get free on a 2 year
$500+ phone to compete with android and apple in late 2016 - You should now have a solid following to go hard.
This is a CROWDED field and they are going to fukking fail even with their great innovations because they are trying to target that high end crowd who will look at the camera like

but I am already invested too much into android/ios
Marketing fellas...learn it because obviously Ballmer and the heads at Nokia have NO CLUE. You would think that Microsoft would learn that just throwing money at something doesn't always pan out. They were successful with this strategy on the XBOX, but the mobile market is 10x more competitive and has to go up the beast that is APPLE.
Again
