You are there to STUDY... Stop worrying about women.

Also if you are black, good luck in Spain. A country notorious for their racism.

Barcelona star Dani Alves calls Spain ‘backward’ on racism after banana incident - NY Daily News
I know a few blacks that have gone to Spain no problem...I also know a couple Spaniards of African descent who have never encountered any overt racism. It exists yes, but it isnt a problem that the whole country should be damned for. The US has race horror stories as well.

Oh, my bad..... I'm not in Spain, nor have I ever been to a Spanish-speaking country(unless you consider the US one.... Lol). I basically leaned Spanish on my own. I used the internet, bought books and took classes when I was in school. The books and internet made me more proficient than any class could, that said, the last and only classes I took were in middle school(or junior high as we use to call it).

:dead: @ Yo quiero follar tu boca y garganta.....

I need someone that is proficient or even fluent to help me refine my Spanish. I have yet to find someone that is willing to help me.

You need more Hispanic friends. Where do you live? I practice with friends all the time and my girlfriend is Panamanian. Trust me once you get those conversations going you will mess up but slowly build confidence. Also be mindful of ethnicity when you talk because some innocent words and phrases can be disrespectful varying form country to country. I'm still learning and im sure you know more vocab than me. These reflexive verbs and phrases are driving me crazy right now :noah:

@OneManGang
if you got question with spanish I can do my best to explain it, My vocab is weak, but you can always look words up, but everything they have taught me so far grammar wise and rules I understand, if you got Qs ask em, maybe we I get back ill have a learn Spanish thread, but I can help you with reflexive verbs right now, what dont you get?

@QuintessentialBM
Whats funny is most mexicans dont know follar, they use chingar, so I used that before and the girl was like what :mindblown: I should have looked it up with her and seen her reaction :steviej:

But have you guys heard of Michel Thomas its audio books, I havent used it before, but my brother has been using it for a couple months, and his understanding of the laungage is really good, and sometimes knows shyt I don't, he still need to practice if he wants to reach my speaking level. I was doubtful at first, but last time her came over he really impressed me, he has 3 kids and works all the time, so i guess it works. ima go over it before my trip. I recommend looking into it if you are learning on your own, and grabbing a book called 501 spanish verbs (<--amazon link) I have the book but havent really used it, but I looked over it, and it have a lot of info/verbs/tenses

You can read about it here

Im not worried about women, but im not about to avoid them either.
Yeah many places can be racist, but I have a friend who did this trip two years ago who's black in the same town (I was supposed to go, but didn't get the scholarship then) and he didnt have any problems, plus I spent a nice part of my youth in GA, I've experienced racism, but I wont let any ignorant people ruin my trip. Also, one fan doesn't represent a country, and when sports are involved shyt can get ugly.

Thanks for the read tho, ill watch out for things, but as long as they aren't trying to harm me then ima get my study on while trying to absorb the culture. Hope to get a new perspective on things.

Also, if your serious about learning spanish, consider investing in the FLUENZ computer software. Its by far the BEST way to learn a foreign language. I using it to learn French and i've really become quite proficient in it.

Bruh, I live in Oklahoma..... Not exactly NYC or south Florida.... There are Puerto Ricans, Dominicans & Mexicans around here but not as many as a larger city. The reasons there are Latinos in that live in Oklahoma because they were in the military and because Texas is next door. I need to start using it more though and you read me right..... I don't have the confidence to use it public.Yeah, I'm generally mindful of words and expressions.

You'll just have to put in the time like I have. It will become easier as you put in more work. I had a thirst for it when I finally decided that I wanted to become fluent, so I put in, at least, 2 hours daily. When you do that, you'll become more familiar with grammatical structuring and the expressions(modismos)that generally confuse people learning Spanish. I come across new expressions everyday that have me like :what: :huh: Learn them and then use them frequently so that you don't forget them and you can easily recognize them. Also, you can learn the nuances that will help you to learn how to translate other expressions.

Yeah, each country/culture generally has their own specific words..... Like "joder..." A word you'll never see in Mexico but is commonly used among Caribbean Spanish-speaking countries. Joder can be used interchangeably with chingar, however, it's meaning generally translates to "play/fukk with, screw over" and is considered vulgar.

Another nuance is within Dominican Spanish..... A Dominican taught me that Dominicans like to use animals /w wings(birds especially) to describe someone that is "gay" and volar(to fly) is used as "to be gay." Of course, this is slang and not meant to be used in a formal setting..... These are the types of nuances you'd never learn from a book.

Haha.... Too easy.... I ain't saying nothing though....

Yeah man, you're an inspiration, its hard to learn a language..well to commit yourself to really putting in the time, Ive been study Spanish for like 3 years but I took a break, and just in the last year i've been going hard with it. There are so many distractions, and a lot of the time I start getting into convos with people, and I hit a wall where they say something and I have no idea what they said, shyt makes me want to quit, but I just telling them to repeat it, then I try to change the subject :sadcam:

i've never been in Spain for a July, but I hear that it's hella hot. From 11am-6:30, u can probably expect dry heat. I think Salamanca may be cooler than Madrid, but ioknow.
