Nothing
And another one bites the dust

nikkas giving out their DNA, just be told they black, and have arbitrary bragging rights on dumbass purity:wow:
Nothing "dumb" about being pure Black, then again the light eyed, light skinned, freckled faced damn near White chick in your avatar is indicative of why you made that comment.

What are the different categories and how do they break them up among different populations in the diaspora?

Because I’ve seen multiple ones for AA’s broken up regionally

What exactly are you asking
Like what data are they using to categorize a person with say,

“North Carolina African Americans” or
“African Caribbeans”

Is it based off specific places of origin that typically correlate with a geographical location, and if so what are they? Just curious.

People in those regions share highest matches. All my matches are mainly in the Carribean and Carolinas/Georgia which makes sense if you look at where they sourced slaves from.

Good lookin out. I like that overview they did. Do they have all the categories available to view like this or just the one they assign you with? I want to see if some of the data lines up with some research I’ve done.

They actually do a time line from end of slavery in that region to modern time its pretty cool. On the desktop site you can see what all the regions are.

I wonder if it is possible for Black people in the diaspora to find actual blood relatives in Africa using DNA ancestry. I would assume if more native Africans took DNA ancestry test they could find cousins whose ancestors were taken into slavery in the Western hemisphere.
Maybe. My closest matches are 4th cousins.

I believe the rule for calculating a generation estimate is 25 yrs. of if you do 25 * 4 (because they are 4th cousins) that means our shared ancestor probably lived 100 yrs ago give or take.

I think @xoxodede got matched up with some Africans that she shared a common ancestry with. It's possible.

Especially if they aren't that far removed from the continent, they might find some cousins in the database.
