I thought Benin was the name that colonizers gave Dahomey tho and they were at war with the Yorubas of Oyo. You right the I just looked up the demographics and the second largest minority group is Yorubas after Fon
Benin is the former Dahomey which was a vassal state of Oyo until the Fon rebelled. But DNA test have been proving that there is genetic overlap between the inhabitants of Dahomey and Oyo. After Ancestry did their system update, all of us that had genetic material that registered as Nigerian switched over to Benin.
Also, that Portuguese/Congo may point to you having ancestors from the Kingdom of Kongo that spanned the area around Congo and Angola.

shyt is crazy cuz everybody that knows me knows I'm on this African religious tip and I just met a dude whose gonna initiate and mentor me on Palo Mayombe aka The Rules Of The Congo and Haitian Voodoo. Guess I have new countries to visit to retrace the steps of my ancestors
Senegal fukked me up tho I know a lil bit about Ghana/Akan/Ashanti history but what the hell went down in Senegal? ?? ??
. I always wondered what my african/Indian(asian)/euro ratio is being PR and all. But then again none of these tests are ever gonna be 100 percent accurate so
.Considering they work directly with law enforcement with your DNA (that's how they caught the Golden State Killer) I ain't touching this shyt.
I have no record but that shyt makes me uneasy.
If someone wants your DNA that pop can you threw in the trash is all they need

What test did you take that told you you were Akan?
If you see did Ancestry DNA and your results have a combo of Ivory Coast/Ghana and Mali or Senegambai then that more so means you have some Mande ancestry (the percentages you got would provide better context).
Sounds about right for you. Every other Jamaican I've watched on YouTube have had around 90% or above. Even one light skinned girl I've watched had 88%.
Jamaicans are keeping it black pretty well.
bought one during their father's day sale this year and got mines back 2 weeks ago

I mean Africa is too diverse to find a soecific answer via testing. Im not saying these tests dont serve a purpose Im saying use it as a reference more so than saying your ancetors are from everywhere you see in your result. I say this because those countries are white creations. For Mande people we will show up as having Malian and Ivory Coast/Ghana results but they are talking about the same people who lived in those places, does that make sense?
