I went from 0 to 47% myself.
I went from 0 to 47% myself.

@xoxodede @Old Scott Hall @HarlemHottie
My father’s parents are a black man from NC or VA, mom is a byproduct of two black Bajans.
Mom’s parents are a mixed man from Eutawville, SC(half black half white) and a black woman from the Charleston area of SC.
Given the above info, what should my percentages look like and from what countries?
Not my lane, homie. I refuse to even do the testing. *conspiracy head* But i do enjoy reading everybody else's results.I went from 0% Nigeria to 40 % Nigeria.
shyt fake as fukk.![]()
yeah they taxing. The ethnic groups they provided me are technically in the region of my tribe, but it seemed too far off which tells me they dont have a large sample size of test data to match me to.
Actually African Ancestry has the largest database of African samples to test your DNA against. They have over 33,000 samples, which they accumulated with help of the embassies in African Countries. So if your ass is African then they know your tribe. Not only that, but African Ancestry is specifically testing your X and Y chromosomes and comparing it to known tribes. Those chromosomes typically do not change in people and are passed from parents to child in generation after generation. So once your X and Y are examined they compare it against X and Y chromosomes of people in those tribes and that is how they are able to determine what country and tribe you are from. They even show you the tribes that they got DNA samples from.

It is actually AncestryDNA and 23andme that are spit balling, because they don't even have 2,000 samples for the entirety of Africa. Not just West Africa; I am mean the entirety of Africa. So AncestryDNA and 23andme are really just assigning regions that looks the most like your DNA and on top of that they are giving autosomal results, which are basically useless unless there are ample samples. So AncestryDNA and 23andme are actually trying to catch up, because they know that they are behind which is why they are always doing updates and the results swing so wildly for people.
According to that list African Ancestry has my Tribe yet none of my parents matched it. 23andMe however matched me down the the County my family is from.
They matched your mother, because she came back as Berber. Right?
You have to remember that the X and Y chromosome covers from the last 500 to 2,000 years. So your people might be in Liberia now, but that does not mean that is where there were at 500 to 2,000 years ago.
I understand that. My tribe didn't even get to Liberia until 2-300 yrs ago or so, and I know on my dad sides my Great Great Grandfather was part of a wave of migration into Liberia from Guinea. My point is more so that my tribe was tested, yet my matches were more than likely for something much earlier.
Much earlier in Liberia like the Kru people? Because they are long time residents of Liberia.
The weird part is that Mande people split off so much and rename themselves into different tribes so often that it is hard to tell who is who sometimes. I remember you mentioning that your tribe is the Dan. When you look up Liberia you notice that there are other Mande groups and it it is hard to determine if the Dan were the Dan when they got to Liberia or where they a splinter group from the Kpelle or Mandingos when they got to Liberia that renamed themselves the Dan. It is really difficult researching Mande people, but it is clear that they all lived in the Northern Sahel at one time.
Nah. Kru were in Liberia before the Dan. Kru used to be in the north then when the Dan came they pushed them out of Nimba further south. Kpelle are one of the first modern groups in Liberia. Mandingo are one of the later groups. My mothers father gifted Mandingo a lot of land due to the Islamic connection.
Ironically I think the stuff Samori Toure had going on is what made a lot of Mande people move into Liberia during the last wave of migrations.
Which group did African Ancestry match you with in Liberia?
You got pics to your trip to Africa?
none. My Mom Matched Taureg and my Dad matched a group in Benin. The Taureg stuff is whatever, the Benin thing was odd, because Paternally I know for fact there is generations of men from the Dan tribe, and they came from the North so the migration pattern dont add up.
