Moving to a consumption based flat tax would mean regular people would be taxed on a much larger percentage of their salary than rich people.

Yea, a flat tax is a bad idea. However, they do need to make a concerted effort to simplify taxation.

this the same thing I have BEEN saying. it would cost SOOOOO much less to have our military domestic on our borders keeping it secure than to fund these dumb wars in the middle east.

we ain't even gettin no oil outta there for a decent price. fukk that shyt. these wars just a way for the military industrial complex to keep on :eat: off the tax payers.

another way to cut cost is to get rid of the IRS and just have a flat tax based on consumption. that way it doesn't cost billions to collect all these taxes. the gov't wouldn't have to process all these returns, and scumbags couldn't cheat off all these tax loopholes that the avg cat doesn't get to take advantage of.

We're a world power and a major player in the global economy (which has a great impact on or economy). We can't just ignore what's going on in the rest of the world and only protect our borders.

To tell you the truth I really couldn't tell you. I got the email about the tax but since I worked a lot of overtime during this pay period I couldn't tell if there was more a less of a cut. I can tell you this though, the raise I got is gone since they doubled our premiums for insurance and then this tax thing. But as long as we got this overtime going, I'm not going to notice it.

I had to remember that I didn't get paid for taking off Christmas Eve so I'm probably better off than I thought. I didn't get paid for NYE either, so I won't really know the deal until the first check in February.

Oh, earilier in the year overtime was treated like a bad omen. It was like, "you talking about that o-word, we can't say it"!! But in July, they started with offering overtime and since they closed a center and our work has picked up, they done opened the flood gates. And I'm gonna ride this wave all the way to the bank :stylin:

Im actually surprised so many people didnt know about this payroll tax holiday expiring. Sure they talked about the fiscal cliff more but they mentioned it more than enough on every cable news network. Ive always wondered why news talks about the same thing over and over and over again and now i see why. Because even when they repeat something ad nauseum a lot of yall still dont hear it.

I'm ok with a consumption tax. 3% fixed for 10 yrs or so and the income tax goes away. Make groceries and gas exempt. There are too many people that do not pay taxes. You can't just keep feeding off the rich forever. If you are crying broke but want to buy Jordans and an iPad then you are gonna have to pay. It would also stop all the loopholes that the rich people use to avoid income taxes.

I could live with it. I'd rather pay a 20% sales tax and keep 100% of my paycheck.

This is the main reason I endorse a flat tax. at least with a flat tax, EVERYONE would be paying taxes. you woulnd't have immigrants and rich people all getting over on the gov't yet taking advantage of social services. especially immigrants.

20%? Man you would have to exempt so much shyt with a tax that high that it would defeat the purpose. You couldnt charge 20% on groceries because then the government would just have to dole out more money in food stamps to make up for it.

State tax here is already 9%, you add 20% on top of that and you would have people fukked up.
