I don't know too many people who like to pay more in taxes.
Taxing the rich is about deficit reduction, payroll taxes are a source of revenue. revenue can assist in reducing the deficit.

People have a "problem" supporting programs that are fiscally unsustainable at their current rates..."taxing" and spending more at the current rate does not address the problem.
Even in this thread people are pessimistic that SS will even be available once they reach retirement age..
And this isn't just about "paying taxes"...everyone is aware that they have to be paid...the problem is that the argument has always revolved around the idea that this problem would be solved if the rich paid more.
But then again you've always reiterated this idea that the purpose of government is to spend anyway
And this idea of "taxing more benefits you more" (I.e. redistribution is a good thing) is sheer left lunacy.
