They had Chet guarding Haliburton and SGA guarding Myles :heh:

Say what you will about the 90s and the 2000s but, the Big men back then would've feasted on a 6"6 guard playing defense on them.

At least they knew to get their big ass in the paint to rebound and rim protect.

Turner soft ass is averaging like 2 rebounds a game and hanging out on the perimeter chucking 3's... :deadrose:

I'd rather have my 5 play like a 5...but you're a known water carrier for today's game so...:yeshrug:
Why are you so intent on telling on yourself for not knowing what it is you're watching?
i do agree the game is more skilled today.. but with that.. the players r less disciplined..

where as back in the day.. big knew not to shoot 3s... so he was in the post all day .. now a big can do whatever.. so they do whatever despite it not working all the time
This leaves out arguably the most integral thing about being able to produce efficient and consistent offense - floor spacing.

Over time teams have come to realize that just posting-up with whatever bigs you have isn't going to win you games. It's not going to help create driving lanes for players to get to the rim; it's not going to help create open scoring opportunities where defenders are scrambling trying to defend shots; it's not going to wear down defenses who're exhausting themselves defending all the space; it's not going to help create rhythm and maximize points per possession.

Just because something happened back in the day doesn't mean it was the best method to win games.

I really don't know why we need to keep having this conversation.

No they wouldn't have.

Because it wouldn't just be a 6-6 guard defending them. It would be the 6-6 guard, with multiple help defenders sitting in the pockets on either side of them waiting for them turn. They'd also have to contest with the officiating where the smaller defender would get away with a lot more contact, and if they used even 1/10th of the same physical force to move the smaller defender out of the way, they could be whistled for it, quickly putting themselves in foul trouble.

Furthermore, there's only a remote handful of bigs in NBA history who're good enough to run a high-level, championship offense through the post (even fewer if you put them in today's game), so just inserting any old big man from the past to take advantage of a smaller guard wouldn't result in shyt.

You think a team is winning anything using the likes of Dale Davis to post-up smaller guards?
