Just saw Selma

There is a theory that this is the reason Selma didn't get the Oscar love it deserved. They want to give all of it to Spielberg when he makes the movie.

I want to see Spielberg's portrayal of Lyndon Johnson compared to this one....that will tell the whole story

David Oyelowo should have not only been nominated but won best actor. I say that as someone who openly rooted for Keaton to win it that year.

How the Foxcatcher director got nominated over Ava

Such a damn good movie.

Edit: I do admit that Common was horrible in this movie.

Thank goodness Lee Daniels didn't direct this. I like some of the cast he had originally set up, well everyone except Cedric. However, he wouldn't have made as good of a movie as Ava.

Lee Daniels was originally set to direct. The original cast included Hugh Jackman as Sheriff Jim Clark, Liam Neeson as Lyndon B. Johnson, Robert De Niro as segregationist governor George Wallace, Cedric the Entertainer as minister and activist Ralph Abernathy, and'Lenny Kravitz' as activist Andrew Young. David Oyelowo was attached to star as Martin Luther King Jr. When Ava DuVernay took over as director, Oyelowo was the only casting decision she didn't change.

Just saw the Netflix series “They’ve Gotta Have Us” and they had a segment on Selma.

The actor who played Martin said the scene most people ask him about on the street is the one about him cheating on Coretta. Ava Duvernay’s mission was accomplished
