i mean of course pat has bosh's health and well-being in mind, as he should. but he's also the president/GM who has to look out for the best interests of his team. can't pay someone the max who can only play half the season:manny:
if bosh has to retire because of this he still gets paid right?.....but at the same time the heat would get all the cap room because of the insurance. i'm sure that's what riley wants. and even though he's thinking about business, it's still the right decision for bosh. 2 years in a row. it's pretty much guaranteed that this will continue. and it's not just playing that could cause the blood clots, it's also all the flying. dude had a great career. won championships. he leaves now he can still live a long healthy life. why risk it just to play a few more years....especially when you got kids to look after. let bosh retire and give him a permanent job with the organization.

I'm curious, do the Heat have enough cap room to throw the max at Whiteside? I know y'all don't got his bird rights and it's mean a long time since a team hasn't had the bird rights to a player that's about to get paid a lot of money so I can't really remember how it works.
Yes, they can pay him and Wade....it's if they try for some 3rd big contract things get dicey

I think it's a year after retirement.

How it was broken down, if he retires today, he comes off the cap for 2017, but if he retires after FA of this year, then he's off the cap for 2018 since that's considered like a rollover period.

Bosh might have to call it a career. Health is no. 1, and from a basketball point I'm not sure there's any guarantee he could ever play through another season without this health issue. I'm sure Riley and Arison will take care of him if he wants to stick around and work with the team in some capacity.
