I understand it helps some people. But at what cost?

The price difference on the same game isn't an advantage to buy one regions version over another because there is no advantage. For example, Last of us is 40 pounds in the UK which is equivalent to roughly 60 bucks or US retail. No region locking benefits customers who don't get certain games in their region. NCAA Football isn't sold in the UK/Europe, That's why no region locking is huge.

One more time. Like I said above I understand that it effects SOME gamers. But most of the people complaining about this and other restrictions wouldn't be effected.

Y'all keep pushing this line. But you know this is NOTHING like what was proposed with the X1

I didn't say that fam. We're talking about some of the things that you can do now digitally.

Nothing is stopping a publisher from selling a game cheaper digitally today. They just choose not to. My thing is, if nikkaz want the disc, let em have it, but at a premium. Sell the digital version 5 to 10 bucks cheaper and then you'll start having cats consider it. If MS was truly going to allow license selling, then that would have been all the reason I need to buy digi only.

Another big problem of theirs that hasn't been touched on yet in here is MS' lack of indie support. If you're gonna have a primarily digital-only console in this day and age, you need to allow indie devs to publish on your platform easier. Indie games are going to become a staple of consoles in the future and the way MS is treating them is baffling, especially when Sony is welcoming them with open arms.

I'm not disagreeing with you....

nikkaz crying about shyt not affecting them is no worse than cats getting mad at nikkaz where this shyt will affect them and telling them to kick rocks.

Good point, this is bigger than cats realize.
While the disc based game is still there, indie games (download digi) will be huge this gen IMO. MS needs to fall back on this no publisher no xbox live shyt as well.

Cats mad at Sony for keeping the status quo, but things like their Indie support and Gaikai are big next gen steps they are undertaking.

That's not true. It's the retail space that is preventing this change. Publishers still have to work with retail and spend tons of money getting their games advertised and promoted by retail companies. One of the stipulations is that retail companies won't promote your games if you try to undercut them in the digital space. M$ doesn't set the prices so they can't just come out and say "games will be cheaper" but what they can say is that their ecosystem would give publishers more flexabilty in pricing, which they did say. But gamers only heard "drm M$ evil"

When in reality m$ wasn't making any extra money from these changes, it would have been the publishers.

I think this problem, just like the rest of them are overblown by the internet community and gaming "journalist" looking for clicks.

Indie games have always had a place on Xbox. In fact some of the best games on Xbox this year were indie games. Internet stans wrote them off as "just XBLA titles" that didn't matter. Until the Internet told them Sony is supporting indie games and evil M$ isn't. Now indie games are so important.:rudy:

Xbox will have indie games as it always has.

If people such as yourself would stop to anylize the situation you'd realize that your "choice" was totaly influenced by GameStop. And the things you thought you were fighting for were more ideology than impact to your gaming experience.

After E3 I went into a couple of Gamestops and the employees were openly ranting against the xbone to customers who really didn't have their mind made up. It wasn't going to be a good look. These kids in these are like parrots... They repeat what they hear over and over.

I remember when I used to work in mobile....
Customer would come in "What's up with the new Blackberry" :ohhh:
Kid in store :dahell: "You don't want no Blackberry, you want android. You can play angry birds."

It was a situation where the customer would have to push the salesman to sell them a product. (It was also a bad cu stomer service situation because android ain't for everybody, but it was sold to everybody.) That's what was going to happen to M$.

This. They could've said a $10 - $15 price drop for digital downloads, but they didn't. They want their $59.99 (or in this likely case $69.99) for every copy regardless of medium. As always greed wins. If I'm going to pay full price, I might as well buy a physical copy. As of right now DD is mostly for instant gratification.
:clap: i dont get how they didn't see this w/ 360. they were charging full price for digital copies of games that had reduced prices in stores :scusthov:

You're wrong on this. Indie games blew up on smart phones and they're making they're way over to the major game consoles. They're cheap and easily accesible, plus they don't take as long as standard games to complete. If you're transitioning to all-digital, indie games have to be a major part of that. They're the future.

Xbox Live Indie Games - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Indie games on consoles started with the Xbox before smart phones caught on.

The difference is that Microsoft prevented a situation where you have thousands of games released on the platform with only a dozen of them being worth anyone's time.

Iphone allows devs to make shyty games and sell them for $.99 in hopes that a couple thousand misinformed buyers purchase them without doing any research. Xbox is trying to prevent this situation from happening on XBL. Which is a good thing for console gamers, but as with most issues surrounding the next gen consoles. People can't hear this message over the shouts of fanboys and inflammatory "click-bating" articles.

Also Microsoft has talked about indie support. One of the most important things they've said is that indie games will have the same footprint on XBL as any other game. Meaning indie games will be sitting right next to Halo and call of duty when customers go into the online store. This is a big deal and would go on to help a lot of indie games, but again the Internet is too outraged about some shyt they don't understand to see this.

Market is heading this direction Microsoft botched it by forcing it....Sony already has family share and provides access to purchase retail games on psn

You don't force markets on people you test markets and strengthen your position in them so that when the market is ready to change your already there

Dumbass
