Keep fallin back MS....keep on .... :laff:

I love it. This is a good thing though for them. Unfortunately most will see this, and rightfully so, as being forced to and not necessarily wanting to.

Sony goons forcing their hand everywhere.

They aint budging on that price drop though this early.... :pachaha:

You stans are funny. You're all about supporting devs when it come a to "self publishing"

But when devs are telling you used games are hurting the industry it's ":pacspit: make cheaper/better game"

The hypocrisy of a ps Stan knows no bounds:wow:

Trying to spin the original xbox one drm policies into a positive is not going to change anything.

The masses spoke...they were not happy with the policies. All this "maybe" and "what if" twists are not going to get you anywhere. Microsoft is in this business to make money...Mattrick and the others did the math and in the end it didn't make sense to keep up with their aggressive policies. A possible 3-1 ratio in favor of the competition to start a console generation is disastrous for the long term so they HAD to make the switch.

They also should have made it easier for indie developers from the very jump. Its really that simple.

Not sure what this has to do with the article in the op. Do you have a comment on that, or did you just want to repeat your disdain for Microsoft?

What about the bolded? We have talked about this before. If they wanted a steam like service and they had an example to take ideas from...they didn't. Like I said before, Microsoft had to fall back with their aggressive tactics. It really is a shame really because I prefer digital, but as long as it makes sense.

Microsoft bit themselves in the ass and no amount of spin from you guys is going to change that.

Mistakes
From the marketing mistake such as Mattrick or anyone on stage EXPLAIN anything regarding the way it works and how it BENEFITS the consumer.

From thinking that a simple article on xbox.com is going to appease the people worried about their potential investments.

Larry Hryb basically looking like a fool when responding to that youtube guy that way when told that they can easily "flip the switch" and then doing so days later.

When Mattrick told people with internet restrictions to get an Xbox 360

How many more examples do you need? This was a lack of talent in the marketing department that then in turn grew into a PR disaster. All that shyt I just posted made microsoft look like fools, unprepared, out of touch, and focused on casuals rather than their core audience. A communications 101 class should be required at a school up in Washington for the whole Xbox team.

I don't think anyone disagrees that M$ flubbed the PR. But that's not what this thread is about.

What this thread and this article was about is the fact that publishers/devs supported and were excited about these propositions behind closed doors but were too affraid to speak about it.

Do you have any thoughts on this subject or would you again just like to express your disdain for Microsoft:aicmon:

They were afraid because they knew the heat they would get from gamers by supporting Microsoft in a stance that the hardcore was not down with. This is simple shyt that doesn't even need a long response.

I don't agree with your angle either btw.

Its up to the business to make it a way in where they can profit. That is not the consumers job in any way. Learn a better way to do business...you never sacrifice consumer satisfaction. Microsoft KNEW this would be the case and STILL went forward.

How Ballmer and Mattrick are still holding those high positions is baffling at this point. Mistake after mistake

microsoft wouldn't have lowered the price of games, they're just trying to make it seem like we lost out on something.

they also need to stop throwing GS under the bus. the used game circuit doesn't start and end with gamestop.

That's not true. It's the retail space that is preventing this change.

so in your head, microsoft was going to put out games for what, 40 dollars? while ps4 stuck with 60 bucks?

lets use common sense. if you've already got people on the 60 pricing model for digital downloads. what is your incentive to cut your profits and lower prices? why would a company do that to themselves?

Failed marketing is what got them in this mess. If they would have come out with a clear and direct message on THEIR terms it could have gone different. It deserves a long and detailed response on how not to launch a product.

The Xbox team needs to go back to school.

The biggest thing is that retail isn't going to allow them to sell 49.99 online and 59.99 at retail, though that is exactly what needed to be done. You can't do 50% digital, it has to be all or nothing to do it right.
