I know it removes the financial incentive but I dont think it will stop or slow down police from disproportionately targeting and locking up black folks :patrice: Im trying to find a reason to celebrate lol
Someine correct me on this but I think it does away with the system of quotas that these private prisons try to reach and maintain to continue to get contracts and funding.

I think the state/Feds always owned the property and was contracting the facilities for private companies to control

If true, no matter how we feel about the govt, businesses should never be allowed to run prisons for profit. Hell its bad enough lawyers extort people fighting cases just based on their name majority of the time because they only fight for good plea bargains with nikkas. Most don't even try and beat the case unless it's clear cut, they'll be laughing and parlaying it up with judges and prosecutors so everyone gets out of it with as least work or effort as possible

This is just for federal prisons. State run prisons , which are sometimes the worst ie: Angola in Louisiana , still can feast with private prisons.
The article said 13 prisons will have their contracts "reviewed" over the next 5 yrs. :martin:
that gives Hillary time to backtrack on this
Right. State prisons are almost exclusively privatized in some states and theyll continue to flourish unfortunately. :francis:

TYRONE GA!
This is good. :ehh:

These private prison companies are less trustworthy than the government, and thats saying something.

Next Step: They should draft legislation that rewards government prisons with low recidivism rates and close down government prisons with high recidivism rates.

This.

Sounds good on paper but let's see if they actually go through with it. The prison lobby is one of the biggest in the country

And then the paternalistic black liberals will be like "Well you need to vote at the state level!" if you want to change that.

Cool to see those prison stocks take that L though.

Still will be :russell: until nikkas realize most of the prison population is in taxpayer-funded prisons.

Piper showed white people what really happens in private prison on orange is the new black and now they want to put a stop to modern day slavery? Ok.
Is this sarcasm lmao?
And if the states are given control of the prisons that opens up the door for massive prison reform.
I'm not saying we should be like those soft-ass European prisons where you can rape and kill an entire family and get 15 years with television, and computer privileges, but a massive amount of change could be brought about.
