Huge news. And highlights how important this election is. The court is now 4-4 tied. A liberal judge would tilt things left for a generation.
I love Loretta Lynch but she is 56. I'd rather nominate someone younger. Sri Srinvasan is 48. He was confirmed to be a fed judge by a 97-0 vote, so republicans can't accuse him of being a partisan pick. He hasn't voted on many controversial cases but did uphold overtime and fair pay wages in a case last year. And he worked for Gore during Bush v Gore. So I think it's safe to say he'll lean left, but he hasn't tipped his hand.
