I take it you've never really followed that whole young skater shyt.
I feel like i'm talking to a wall.
You've really got a long way to go to convince me that shyt is racist.
Dawg...I'm gonna be 30 in August. I've been skateboarding for almost 25 years of my life.
In that time, I've seen many boards, graphics, ads, magazines, videos, etc...and believe me thee that sambo/gorrilla thingy has NOTHING to do with skate culture.
Yes, alot of us that skate do graffiti or have done graffiti in the past and vice versa...but never was anything like that acceptable other than some tongue in cheek stuff that would of been more realistic in the 90s than now.
Infact, one of the reasons I gravitated to skateboarding when I was younger was because it was so diverse (I've met mad black skaters who also own shops, companies, film, are pros/ams, etc) and because it was soooooooooo non-racist. Infact, I consider skateboarding and skate culture to be completely anti-racist, especially with ties to the whole punk culture.
There have been plays/commentaries on racism in skateboarding that have featured everything from hanging klansmen to pictures of Malcolm X and MLK in ad campaigns and skateboards.
So, you miss me with this cause I've been in the game like that since the 90s. Shyt, technically I started when I was 5 in the summer of 89 so...I could say since the 80s!!!!!!
