Despite the numbers for BB that has since receded, a lot of viewers wasn’t feeling the all Spanish performance. During halftime shows in the black homes I’ve been in, if the folks don’t care for the artist, they mute it and carry on about their business until the game restarts.
I bet a lot of that happened this past Super Bowl. I’m black black. FBA btw of Georgia and Alabama and some marriages with Bahamians. So, I know how we roll and those numbers don’t mean folks were engaged or cared.
It seems as if the news has been trying to convince folks that it was something special. I bet you the NFL won’t approve anything like that again.
However, the point now is there’s an opportunity to grab some viewers for folks who likely mute if it isn’t anyone they like performing.
You’re looking at it as if a person doesn’t get 50 million viewers then it’s a flop. A YouTube streamer getting 250k live viewers is life-changing money. How about multiplying that with various streams? It’s an opportunity at a piece of the pie. It’s been there but most people haven’t assessed it mathematically because Super Bowl and halftime show has been religious for 3 decades.
Someone may not care for the show but don’t switch the station just mute it. Now folks may be inclined to switch if they find something appealing.
You keep saying this but it’s not true. 128 million dwarfs…. Literally dwarfs all but 3 of the other halftime performances
Rihanna with a built in mainstay audience did 121
50 Cent, Snoop, Dre, did 101
The Weeknd did 96
Frankly the market that the NFL was looking to bring in to watch the performance wasn’t even one that is being shown in the ratings yet. They want the Latin markets in Central America.
Same time zones as NFL teams. It’s why they have games in Brazil, Mexico, etc
But the alternatives were always there. Hell that TPUSA stream wasn’t even close to being the 2nd most watched alternative. The “Puppy Bowl” dwarfed it as well. The NFL is looking beyond American households right now, you’re already behind the curve
The NFL is ecstatic about the numbers considering a couple of mid teams with no stars, during frankly a boring game.. continues to put numbers like it did. And just expanded their market to Latin communities in Central America, which is the slice of the pie they are trying VERRY hard to get
