Got to be in grace first to fall from it
That money chased birthed the full summit
Was wasteful as big eyes and a small stomach
Funny used to call my friends money, I lost hundreds
From low lands, sugar no man, God fearing
I death threats, not deaf yet, I'm hard hearing
Revenge is the engine, with my heart steering
Enough disastrous crashes, had to start veering
Had to use your fists to change your fiscal
Figuring how to get rich became the ritual

:wow::wow::wow::wow::wow:

I had to run this back 3 times

Reign in hell or serve in heaven? :jbhmm:
Take from the world or earn your blessings? :lupe:
I heard verbatim from an angel's message :lawd:
My left shoulder there was Satan finessin' :demonic:
I burnt the sage in the name of protection :win:
Be James Evans or Rayful Edmonds? :ohhh:
It's a dirty game of chess and checkers :wow:
Get paid or be left naked and desperate? :francis:
I lit a candle and played Jamaican records :smoker:
Prayed and rested next to my favorite weapons :boss:
Saved my bread up and then made my exit (I'm out) :hubie:
I'm going back and forth with thoughts of quittin' like table tennis :patrice:
But what's the game if the players ain't in it? (Aint shyt...) :hhh:
Every pen ran out of ink on the day this was written :ahh:
Cain killed Abel in prison, while upstate on a visit :damn:
They so quick to trade and hate on a nikka :scust:
Nothing my radar couldn't pick up :unimpressed:
We overcame greater odds to be winners, harsh winters :to:
No lookin' back we break the mirrors, gray spirits :pacspit:
We gave the devil a grace period

The wicked baptized in Lake Superior :dead:
My lady from Syria :usure:
My interior Siberia :picard:
My eyes still teary, nothin' could cheer me up :mjcry:
This is the criteria

Every now and then, verse one

"Every now and then...

Loved things I shouldve lusted, I rushed it...

Snuffed things I shouldve trusted...

My comments aint a quick alignment, its a full adjustment...

If saw who did it and chopped with the cops, the hood disgusted...

As such, was in touch with the untouchable...

Find out if you really tough, when the guns stuck to you...

Bagging work with leeches, work with pieces thats flushable...

Now with apes; walks to the train aint safe, they had to usher you.....

No rush for structure, we was free wheeling...

Need money to shuffle, thats why we in the street dealing...

Aint adore being on the floor, want to reach ceiling...

Service from the borough of churches, where they preach stealing...

Only told truth, they gave loops with no fruits...

They deeds diseased the seeds, I produced produce...

Was dropped in Gotham, had to blossom and grow roots...

Was chasing product, got up on the shoulder with no boost...

Every now and then..."

Off patron saints

"Our monk's swore a vow of silence to the jakes...

Our yogi's did stretches upstate...

Our sir lancelot's at round tables cutting 8ths...

Our mogul just caught another case...
"

I hope people aint reading these bars without actually listening to the tracks, the instruments are a huge part of the experience. What a masterpiece, I'm still amazed by this album.

"I was raised to age a few years in a day..."

smh
I’m gonna try and say this without it seeming like I’ve lost my mind.

I wrote every day. Not raps but random thoughts, poetry, short stories, and journal entries.

Ka’s writing style when you lay the words out like you did and read them almost makes it seem like something you could write yourself.

But then you read it again, and then listen to it and realize how crazy dense it is while also being pretty accessible actually. Not accessible for morons, but for all of us in this thread ya know?

I hope this post made sense. Basically Ka kind of tricks you or lulls you by saying so much with the fewest words possible. One or two lines can hold so much.

Ironically, even though I wrote a lot, I’m not even interested in lyrics that much anymore. I mostly listen to new projects or artists based on the production. I’m a sample/beat nerd. But Ka’s pen game is fukkin incredible.

Over the years I’ve given up on the conversation of bars and whose nice. I’ve said time & time again Rap should take a step forward otherwise you’re just saying the same shyt as the last guy 10 years ago. I am happy to know a guy like KA out there being like a super hero with words

Cool

The old me wouldve said grief pedigree is 'contemporary ka's' best intro album but nah this is it

This is his best and most accessible album by far

Only problem is he set the bar so high with this one I don't know how he can pass it

Cold Facts.
