shyt is beautiful. It's a perfect example of why I'm so conflicted about Kanye today. He was so pure back then :ohlawd:

I wanted to just look it up so I could post it but now I'm stuck watching it, can't turn it off.
Dude, i was sad when it stopped...

Ahh, i remember watching this over and over when i first came out.

He does need to lower his voice a notch though. Use your indoor voice, Ye! lol

I understand what you are saying after i watched the video but you guys really really really need to find a better way to explain the "speaking" thing

stop just simply saying speaking black and speaking white......you make yourselves sound like c00ns

but yes kanye voice does sound very awkward in those clips

he is speaking proper but even Obama has that certain tone in his voice that tells you he is a Black male.

not even trying to be funny but maybe his French boyfriend speaks that way and it rubs off on him

Talking like a nerdy white dude was the best way I could describe it :heh: I understand why people could get offended because there is that stereotype of speaking "correctly" is talking "white". I've never seen someone in my entire life whose voice just changed like that. He normally has a relatively deep/husky voice, but in that interview dudes voice had a higher pitch and a weird inflection. It was extremely strange and disheartening to me, plus it was a few days after Yeezus came out (which I was extremely disappointed in from a musical standpoint).

that Kanye life and rhymes seriously looks like one of the best hip-hop shows ever. The live band and singers :wow: plus it was a small crowd, intimate setting.

I think Jay-z did a life and rhymes too for American Gangster that was really fukking dope as well.

Madonna. She all of a sudden spoke with a British accent, and she's an Italian-American from Michigan lol but she was married to a Brit, so I can see how maybe she started pronouncing words differently, if that's how she heard them every day.

I didn't mind Yeezus. It's good driving music

I don't hold Madonna to a high standard, it could be a natural thing from being surrounded by everyone who speaks that way or she was just trying to look cool.

I thought the production was pretty good but the struggle raps and lack of overall theme/direction made for a pretty shytty ALBUM imo. I wish the whole damn thing was like Bound 2.

Kanye is in a similar position along with Lupe to me, their new material just makes me miss their old material all the more. At least Lupe's high level of lyricism is still there.

feels like nowadays he has left the artistry by the wayside.. I'm not even strictly talking about his music, but his personality.. He was humble as hell, charismatic, funny and downright lovable on that Life and Rhymes shyt.. I miss that Kanye.. :yeshrug:

^^

I don't think he's more mature today than he was back then... I think money has changed him..

:heh: you say this as if you used to hang with the dude personally. I think the money just gave him more confidence. You sound like you're expecting the resurrection of College Dropout Kanye. That would just be moving backwards at this point. Dude's life and experiences are much different now.

:rudy: @ cats playin wit semantics. Like yall mufukkas don't know what is meant by a brotha "talking white".

Dere are brothas who have an incredible grasp of da english language but still maintain dat certain vernacular of their origin whether its da hood or ya average middle class black household. Has nothing to do wit white= proper.

Stop being purposefully dumb wit dat shyt mane. :aicmon:

That life and rhymes shyt makes you feel like you know the dude tho.. I think it gave you a honest insight into Kanye's life, experiences and personality.

Again, I don't give a fukk if he wants to try new things musically. But at least keep a decent level of lyricism and artistic message. I mean, just go listen to Heard 'Em Say.. Just the hook has more message than all of Yeezus...

Blood on the Leaves verse 1

I just need to clear my mind now
It's been racin' since the summertime

Now I'm holdin' down the summer now
And all I want is what I can't buy now
Cause I ain't got the money on me right now
And I told you to wait
Yeah I told you to wait

So I'mma need a little more time now
Cause I ain't got the money on me right now
And I thought you could wait
Yeah, I thought you could wait

These bytches surroundin' me
All want somethin' out me
Then they talk about me
Would be lost without me

We could've been somebody
Thought you'd be different 'bout it
Now I know you not it

So let's get on with it

verse 4

To all my second string bytches, try and get a baby
Trying to get a baby, now you talkin' crazy
I don't give a damn if you used to talk to Jay-Z
He ain't with you, he with Beyoncé, you need to stop actin' lazy

She Instagram herself like #BadbytchAlert
He Instagram his watch like #MadRichAlert
He only wanna see that ass in reverse
Two-thousand-dollar bag with no cash in your purse
Now you sittin' courtside, wifey on the other side
Gotta keep 'em separated, I call that apartheid
Then she said she impregnated, that's the night your heart died
Then you gotta go and tell your girl and report that

Main reason cause your pastor said you can't abort that
Now your driver say that new Benz you can't afford that
All that cocaine on the table you can't snort that
That going to that owing money that the court got

All in on that alimony, uh, yeah-yeah, she got you homie
'til death but do your part, unholy matrimony

fukking GARBAGE ass raps. I'm sorry.. Dude rhymed #BadbytchAlert with #MadRichAlert

Don't get me wrong I def get what you are saying. I'm just saying the old Kanye had things to get off his chest thru his old lyrics...and he's done it. The Kanye now, doesn't have those same things to get off his chest anymore and he's shifted a majority of his attention into other things as he explained in this interview.

I just don't think that's an excuse to sacrifice lyricism or message. It's not like he's out here making grown man music like the god Nasir. In fact he's making more juvenile music than when he was an actual juvenile. How many dikk jokes are there within the first 4 tracks of Yeezus? :smh:

Nonsense? I love Kanye but that shyt was mad strange. shyt was the equivalent of Quentin Tarantino talking like a black dude. Just :dahell: status.

Kanye used to be such an artist to me, I just have so many mixed feelings about what he has evolved into.

I remember watching this shyt when I was younger and was just blown away

look at how intelligent, humble, and charismatic he was..look at how he connects with the audience and just talks with them.

Kanye has never been humble.

To echo Crimson Tider, did you all forget how he flipped out and demanded a XXL rating and said that anything else wouldn't be sufficient?

@Desirous Does he really keep it real? Acting out even though you have good intentions is not exactly what I call "keeping it real". That phrase is over used and has lost meaning.

I did find it interesting that he is fighting so diligently to break into fashion when they look at him as an outsider however as a rapper, he and other rappers cannot say anything to people of other professions jumping into music. How many actors, athletes and other non musically inclined people drop a "rap" with little to no resistance or kerfuffle from those who have devoted their whole life to the profession of music? How many times had hip hop music and culture been used to market/ sell something or as a dalliance before switching it up? Including but limited to Marky Mark, Christina Aguilera, Pink and Kid Rock.
