guarantee you. the artists signed to jay gives him leverage over most streaming companies, outside of spotify and apple music, but honestly, i think spotify is his biggest comp and not apple. with 1 billion iphones sold - apple has solidified their streaming service and that number gives them heavy pull in and outside of their ecosystem because apple music is available everywhere. but there's literally no way on earth he'll sell it for a loss.

i don't even have it downloaded but he's pulling in better numbers than they were doing before he bought it. the artists he has will be tied to a tidal exclusive launch and will boost subscribers every year probably. that's enough for people to get involved. i can see apple buying it so they can outright destroy spotify.
the artists have no leverage. The labels are doing Jay a solid plus how is he paying the license for the labels' catalogs? That's who it's ultimately up to. Apple can go to the labels' coerce them into deading the exclusive wars.

If that was me as CEO of Apple, I'll be speaking to the Justice Department about buying influential stakes in the major labels and bullishly increase the price to license the music and fukk over Spotify and Tidal. I use Spotify but I know a little about business.

And how is this Apple's fault? Jay bought a company, attempted to compete, and is failing because consumers said "No free tier? :camby:20 bucks a month for 'HiFi audio' that I can't differentiate from regular streaming audio? :camby:"

"Please Mr. Cook, cut my friend (and me, and a bunch of other musicians that cried broke when launching this) a check because we bit off more than we could chew. Do it for the kids!" :to::sadbron::sadcam:
:scust::scust::scust::scust::scust:

thats only for audiophiles who love the highest quality that wasnt meant for regular people.

complaining about that is stupid when the regular service is available for the same price as spotify and apple.

i've been wondering that myself...

i know they kinda struggled in securing licensing deals with majors like SONY.....

and the cash they were looking to recieve to help secure these deals with advance payments fell thru once Softbank/Sprint passed on obtaining a stake in the TIDAL business model.

and maybe this is something Kayne with his big azz mouth is trying to point at...that TIDAL might be cash strapped due to losses and "bailout" by APPLE wouldn't be a bad idea

i hope it don't go thru...i do like the content provided by TIDAL especially with the concerts and shows which cater more specifically to the urban audience

and i don't want APPLE to gain a greater share in the streaming market....it will damn thier be a monopoly if they ever get SPOTIFY out the way

Great points. Other commentators are looking at this at the surface level. Minority owners of Tidal may not admit it over there but they have to be losing plenty money. Especially Beyoncé. That's why she had the tour planned before dropping that album. CDs and download sales are falling and riding for her husband is causing her to lose big money via streaming so she had to tour. :yeshrug:

Ye is saying it without saying it.

I get Jay Z's gamble which was he thought all these artist-owners' fans were going to transfer over to them. It backfired.

:mjlol: Vanilla Ice & MC Hammer also broke records too but look where they are now, nowhere to be found. these things don't matter.

Drake is Jay-Z status in terms of longevity, He has been the worlds most important rapper since 2009 and its not like there is anyone close to him. Who is 2nd? Cole Kendric :mjlol:
