Streaming was NEVER cool...

Because it changed the business model that artists could generate revenue from

and two it deprived the fans the right to actually own the music they purchased......

at least with the downloads you had the content for your own use at your own will

with streaming the music is just THROWN OUT THIER to the wind litearly in the cyber world...

so eventually the LABEL HEADS was gonna find a way to consolidate all this shyt... (control it)

and that's what led us to where we at now which is SUBSCRIPTION based music...basically music in bundles

they basically NETFLIXed the music game :manny:

and what's sad is they TOLD us they were gonna do this...we been warned by two big music honchos

it was no secret....

Doug Morris publically told YOUTUBE that him and Universal want in on the ad revunue on those YOUTUBE STREAMS and just like magic VEVO was created...

MARC GEIGER publically announced that SUBSCRIPTION MUSIC is the way to go and that labels don't need to be spending any more promotionial and marketing money on artists like they did before especially the Catalog artists of the past....

as he stated and i quote..."we provide the file and we just sit back and collect the $$$"

Bro I'm not disagreeing wit u. I been one of the few people on here arguing with people in the Arcadium about the streaming shyt. nikkas talking bout streaming >>>>> physical media. Meanwhile u can't get a De La Soul album on any streaming site or ITunes. These muthafukkas make u pay for shyt. And they can take shyt from u. I said it's cool cause I understand what the consumer likes about it. I understand the convenience factor. Same way I understand what people love about Netflix. Streaming ain't all bad as long as u don't use it as ur primary source of media consumption. I'm been DJing since the late 90s bro my music library is insane. So I Def understand where u coming from.

Thats for the lowdown on why Beyonce decided to tour. What is Blue eating for breakfast this morning?

Tidal is reportedly on 4.2 million subscribers with 45% on the hifi option. Thats a good growth rate for a relatively new independent streaming company. Apple, like all dominant players before it will have its day. Are they even the biggest selling smartphone maker on the planet?

Smartphone Vendor Market Share, 2015 Q2
The worldwide smartphone market grew 13.0% year over year in 2015 Q2, with 341.5 million shipments, according to data from the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker. This growth is primarily due to gains experienced in emerging markets such as APEJ and MEA. This quarter's shipments were slightly lower than forecast and IDC expects to see a noticeable slowdown in smartphone shipments in 2015 as China joins North America and Western Europe in a more mature growth pattern. Android dominated the market with an 82.8% share in 2015 Q2. Samsung reasserted its global leadership with a renewed focus on lower-cost smartphones.

You can still download music. Streaming is just a new way of consuming music but in no way shape or form does it prevent you from owning the mp3

Exactly. That's like saying Netflix is killing movies and tv. You can still buy the video on Amazon or the DVD from wherever. Nobody is stopping you. I have a Spotify subscription and I still buy music (on vinyl at that). Spotify is largely how I consume commercial music, Datpiff & youtube for the rest then I cop the stuff I really enjoy because I take pride in physical ownership of music.... and I can afford it.

It's the way the world is going. Before most of us die, the idea of owning a car will seem archaic - and if you do own one - other people will take rides in it as it drives itself. I'll probably own a car longer than will be needed in the city.

What needs to happen is all stramig companies need to be sued for stealing publishing masquerading as streaming.
