Solo tracks, collaboration and beats for others. Don’t diminish Ye because the way he does it with samples is stupid good.

Pharrell, although I still view Chad and Pharrell as a collective in which I feel Pharrell's genius really shined during that era. The hooks, the bridges, and the melodies that he came up with during that whole Neptunes run was crazy. I didn't feel Kanye ever came close to that genius. Collaboration and beats for other artists, Pharrell got it.

Kanye is better as a solo artist.

Aw man.

I think Kanye maybe was better at producing for himself, but I think Pharrell was better at producing for other people.

I don't want to give a cop out answer though. I'll have to think on it.

I understand what you're saying

But at this point, Pharrell has just as much songwriting and production credit alone as he does as a duo with Chad Hugo

Obviously, his ground breaking run is as one half of Neptunes with Chad Hugo

But Pharrell has been writing and producing a lot of really good music the last decade and a half

His work on Ariana Grande's album from a few years ago is really nice

Pharrell has been one of the most consistent producers in the game

Genius? I don’t know about all that. Them nikkas make good ass beats.

And Kanye way better. I don’t know Pharrell process. And Kanye is a lunatic now and probably making music in some weird way. But I done seen Kanye sit down with the MPC and make some shyt live. Crazy sample flip game. Underrated as an R&B producer. More variety in his sound.

Also, they signature styles, Kanye back in the day with the sped up soul samples, and Neptune’s with the minimalistic beats and them space sounding sounds, Kanye signature shyt way better. Give me the sped up soul samples, fukk them weird ass laser sounds.

Then, Kanye is Kanye. Pharrell was the Neptunes and shyt. Till this day nikkas confused in who do what over there. Pharrell shyt more lush. Kanye shyt more soulful. Give me the soulful shyt. This hip hop. I’m talking bout old Ye too. I don’t check for this man music. Pharrell either. I gotta hear the shyt being played somewhere. Neither one of them nikkas gets no play in the ride these days.

Pharrell these past 10 years is hit and miss. That Ariana Grande album has some ok songs, but nothing that really stood out. Kendrick's "Alright", a few songs off the last N.E.R.D album, "Nice" from The Carter's were all Grade A. I also like the Voices of Fire Gospel joint.

Bruh, that's every producer after they've been in the game for 20 plus years

After the outstanding run he and Chad had in the late 90's and early to mid 2000's, styles and sounds changed, producers hit points where their ideas are connecting with audiences as much or just any and everything moves in ebbs and flows

But all in all, Pharrell has done pretty good.

But no producer has been the game for as long as he has and not had some misses, that shyt is natural, it happens

After a legendary run, Stevie Wonder started making less than stellar music

No producer, writer, artist, stays on top of the their game forever.

That last N.E.R.D. album wasn't good imo

The Kendrick joint was nice and yes, that Voices of Fire Gospel joint is nice too

And Kanye has a whole team of producers versus Pharrell who probably just has a few engineers and some session players
They all got a whole team when they started getting bigger and wanted more complex sounds. Dre, Timbaland, Pharrell and Chad, all of them. The 9th wonder type beat makers are the only ones sitting in a room by themselves with an mpc, keyboard and laptop
