Didn't atcq and de la soul and many others groups already do that though?
Not every album in hiphop before Kanye was a crime saga

I would agree to an extent. But I'm talking impact. Yes, some others may have done similar. But the impact that Kanye had by doing it, due to the impact he had on hip hop at the pop culture level, is what I'm referring to.

ATCQ and DLS were hip hop legends, but they did not have the same kind of impact as Kanye on pop culture in general.

Peace

This guy doesn't know anything about hip hop. When he started comparing macklemore and mc hammer to tell u wanted to knock his ass out. Kanye has fathered an entire generation of hip hop and continues to do so. Kanye is responsible for damn near all the fashion and slow tempo beats cause of 808s.

Ezrin worked on The Wall, the fragile, 39 seconds to Mars, and schools out for the summer.

Kanyes work is just as good as his best notable work.

It's obvious he doesn't listen to rap he was probably one of the ones like George Harrison saying can't spell crap without rap. fukk this guy

I personally listen to Kanye more than Pink Floyd. So I could care less about Bob Ezrin. Especially in 2016 with the way mainstream music looks today.

In fact Led Zeppelin > Pink Floyd, I could listen to I-IV any day over The Wall and Dark Side... Those two albums are kind of overrated to me.

None of them are anywhere close to MJ though.

Also, Kanye may not be a street poet for a lyricist, but his impact lyrically by influencing 'being yourself' with some pretty snappy bars in the early stages of his career holds a lot of weight and has opened plenty of doors.

You clowns in here trying to cape for Bob Ezrin strictly off the defense that "HE WORKED WITH PINK FLOYD!!!!" need to do your googles.

The only noteworthy Pink Floyd album he worked on was The Wall, and dude was constantly clashing with the band to the point certain band members refused to work with him. He was only allowed in the studio at night. He was also one of multiple producers that worked on the album, and is only credited for ONE SONG. Pink Floyd also made sure that he got as small of a cut of the royalties as possible. His only other work with Pink Floyd consists of small contributions from their less heralded albums that came out in the late 80's and 90's.

So basically, giving Bob Ezrin props for producing on The Wall is equivalent to giving Poke and Tone props for producing on The Blueprint. :camby:

God damn. I like Kanye but he's ALWAYS had this fukking thing where he can't deal with anyone having an opinion he doesn't like or agree with.

That said, I read this guy's article. He does make some good point, but...he's also a fukk head.

"He didn’t open up new avenues of public discourse like NWA, or introduce the world to a new art form like Grandmaster Flash, or even meaningfully and memorably address social issues through his music like Marshall, Macklemore and Kendrick.”

Someone needs to play this guy All Falls Down, School Spirit, Spaceship, Never Let me Down, Two Words, Family Business, Roses, Crack Music, Heard Em Say, Addiction, Everything I Am, I Wonder, Gorgeous, Hell of a Life, Blame Game, and more I'm sure.

:mindblown: WTF is he talking about?

The new kanye is ruining the old kanyes legacy.
People will forget how good The College Dropout was soon.

He needs to keep his head down, get off social media and go underground letting music do the talking, He doent need to be in the limelight like this, he has is fan base..he can sell areas. This is a complete mess.

He is getting ethered LEFT and RIGHT.

Alot of what Ezrin says is right, but Kanye has caused this by being so damn big headed.

also, what he is saying about those artists is clichéd and limiting about their value. Everything those artists did was dope musically. If it wasn't, all the other " important" shyt wouldn't matter. Kanye first and foremost is dope musically. That is what he should primarily be judged on. He knows how to put albums together top to bottom. They are cohesive. I think at his best his shyt is graceful as fukk. He may not be a dope technical rapper, but he is still an excellent communicator which is a more important artistic value.

I think he is overrated as a rap artist but he as good as any CAC out there.

Nah at the end of the day the music will stand the test of time...MJ was going through alot of PR disaster but after his death people praised and honored his music and forgot about all the allegations. He'll be safe as long as he continues making great music..Dude had every forum and music publication talking about his album...he's still very relevant in music.
