Neck ties and boxing gloves.
Ye's content was always pretty pro black.

It was his image that made people comfortable with him. Kanye super talented tho, dont let his recent c00n antics negate his work ethic and contributions to the game

How does letting other people write your rhymes and produce your beats constitute talent?

It's sure as shyt's not his delivery or his voice.

kanye does pander to white elite musical tastes. reminds me of chris rock or questlove. they like to present themselves are more sophisticated than your average black artist/comedian or whatever. and lets be honest, they have been rewarded for it. i cant think of any black person who put out as many box office flops and shytty fims as chris rock and he is still getting chances. i love him as a stand up but his movie career should have been over.

as for kanye, if MBDTF isnt a big pander to the sophisticated white listener crowd i dont know what it is. only black people that bump kanye are what i like to term the pretentious negroes. in an ideal world they would be writing about art/culture in the village voice heyday and wearing a beret or dashiki or fedora for fashion. now, i did like kanye at one point, and still think his early music is great. but ever since 808’s its hit and miss and mostly miss.

My momma was raised in the era when
Clean water was only served to the fairer skin
Doing clothes you would have thought I had help
But they wasn't satisfied unless I picked the cotton myself
You see it's broke nikka racism
That's that "Don't touch anything in the store"
      And this rich nikka racism
That's that "Come in, please buy more
What you want, a Bentley? Fur coat? A diamond chain?
All you blacks want all the same things"
Used to only be nikkas now everybody playing
      Spending everything on Alexander Wang
      New Slaves

You just have poor taste. Try listening to more than just music made by blacks people

This is very true. His albums have ranged from CAC friendly (College Dropout, Graduation) to outright CAC pandering (LR with Jon Brion, Yeezus)

Say sampling curtis mayfield and marvin gaye is "Cac friendly" brehs.

His whole steeze on College Dropout, Late Registration, even Graduation is paying respects
to musicians he respects a great deal from Ray Charles to Michael Jackson to Marvin Gaye.

If anything his earlier music is a direct call back to 1960's/1970's/1980's Black America but this changed with 808's and Heartbreak and the album that came after that.

He (or someone on his team :yeshrug: ) started sampling from rock, using production styles
from EDM etc. and added it into his Hip Hop. The soul and jazz samples left, the orchestra left, the bounce and swing he was known for started disappear in favor of something else.
This coincides with about the time his ego started to run out of control and he was looking for a private pornstar to marry (Amber Rose, Kim K etc.)

Kanye now is making music for people who want cool points by playing it at a party or namedropping it or talking about him.

I never thought i would see the day that this man and his fans became a monolithic cult.

Combine that with the Yeezy adidas fashion hype and hes now the quintessential tumblr fashion blogger rapper.
Kanye has always done what hipsters want. He invented hype beasts.

Thats what his core fanbase is. This goes for all races who like Kanye, black white & Hispanic. I'm talking more content, not musicality. There's nothing wrong with that but it is what it is.

That's why his popularity/skill is overrated. He's not special, just filled a big niche/audience first.

:snoop:

To bad this isn't accurate and they've been fans just like we have since day 1

How many Yeezy concerts have you been to breh?

We're getting racist now

i used to love chris rock but as i got wiser, he is probably one of the most "hateful of other black people" personalities i have ever come across. i used to laugh at that shyt as a youngin but now it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. and its not like we are not allowed to make fun of eachother, but for some reason, his shyt is always more spiteful. you listen to robin harris and he also has the hard on black people shyt but it was always funny, never mean spirited. chris rock shyt, mean spirited as hell, and full of venom.

er. i like white music as well as far as that goes, but when black people who do white music get more praise than black people who stay within their tradition, its a problem. shyt, i fx with cac music beleive it or not. but they not better than black music. hell nah.
