He meant well and had a point but

I dont think its about him TRYING to sell the shoes, its about what he deserved because Phil Knight made money off a product that was inspired and based around Michael.

Its like if someone drew a painting of you, sold it for millions of dollars, wouldn't you expect the artist to cut you a cheque? :patrice:

well NIKE did make MJ pretty much a god so i think its unfair to say nike didn't do anything for MJ.

Charlemagne SONNED that dude...

I can't f+ck with Kanye all that pseudo-black power BS...

(1) Dude wifed a Caucasian...You can't scream black power and building black heritage, and then hand over your legacy to North West, who will MOST likely not identify herself as being black...

(2) Dude is just talking loud, but the stuff that he is saying is feather weight and damn near nonsensical, as exposed by Charlemagne...He talks about wanting to learn how to move the smooth way, but he is doing the opposite...

(3) Dude is pretty much the reason why a wiseman who lived many years ago said "even fools appear wise when they keep their mouths closed"...

(1) I think he's for equality, not black power.
(2) I don't think Charlamagne "sonned" him, he's talking that simple shyt while Kanye has a deeper meaning to what he's saying
(3) I can't say he talks simple shyt, but I think he's talking that deep shyt within a non-deep framework as fashion which just sounds stupid.

He says that he's michaelangelo, steve jobs and walt disney. That he's a "creative" and a genius. Yet, he can't think of a creative, ingenious way to get his shyt off the ground and has to resort to whining and buffoonery and empty threats because white billionaires won't let him in to their country club.

Musical genius, yes. For that genius, I give him his props, but that's where it stops.

(1) I think he's for equality, not black power.

Nah breh, Kanye SPECIFICALLY gave black examples...He stated that there were about "7 black billionaires" and he also stated that "black people can't make moves like the Jews and oil people because they don't have those connections"...

Kanye was trying to connect his struggle to the overall black struggle...He is alluding to the idea that essentially what he was going through, he is going through it for black people, hence the name "Yeezus"...He is carrying the cross...

But Charlemagne exposed that as fugazi...

If Kanye West was really about black power, (1) He would wife a black woman...This is VERY IMPORTANT and symbolic (2) He would not waste his time with Nike and Louis Vuiton, because those brands to build black communities...Instead, he would start his own company, build his own reputation, and provide other talented black people with the opportunity and the "connections" (he was talking about) to make something for themselves...

This how the Jews built their connections...When the racists told the Jews, "you can use this hall for your performances," the Jews built their own halls, and now their halls have a lot of credibility, and they did that in almost every aspect of life...

They built their own sh+t, married their own people, and kept their wealth within their heritage...

Black people have been making some of the most lucrative music for generations, and yet, there still is NO major black label with world wide distribution...The reason for this is black people being like Kanye, complaining about "the white man wont take a meeting with me" instead of just building their own sh+t and saying "f+ck you white man, we have our own labels and distribution, and we will also exploit white artists and other artists, and keep the wealth within the black community"

(3) There WILL NEVER be equality between whites and blacks if black people adopt the Kanye model of "I will scream from the top of my lungs until Nike and Louis Vuiton hear me" This model does not work because it creates a "token black person" environment...If Kanye is really on Michaelangelo level of creativity, and he has the finances that he accumulated through his music, then why exactly does he need the Medicci Family (Nike, Louis Vuiton)...Why does he create Kanye West from the bottom up...As Charlemagne pointed out...

(2) I don't think Charlamagne "sonned" him, he's talking that simple shyt while Kanye has a deeper meaning to what he's saying
That's the irony of the whole situation...

Kanye West was the one talking that "simple shyt" using a lot of words and going on tangents...While Charlemagne was talking that "deeper meaning" using straight forward talk...

Which one do you think is more "simple shyt" (A) Building a brand from the bottom up or (B) Just becoming another Nike employee...?

The strategies that Kanye West was proposing WILL NOT empower black people in any significant way...Remember, Black Americans are essentially 200+ years behind White America...It's like putting a child that was poorly home schooled, in an advanced placement, and thinking that child will catch up...It doesn't work well...

The home schooled child needs to be in his/her own environment and develop in his/her own pace...One black person making it to the top of the corporate ladder doesn't do much for black people in general...Because that black person moves to the suburbs, marries a white woman, and they have children who don't really identify themselves as "black", and they have marry white people, and so on and so forth...With every passing generation, that "black" identity fizzles out...

For every black person who makes it to the top, there are like 100 white people who make it to that same level, and the white people tend to have more far reaching connections..So how exactly is this model going to equalize things...?

(3) I can't say he talks simple shyt, but I think he's talking that deep shyt within a non-deep framework as fashion which just sounds stupid.
He is not talking that "deep shyt" though...

Charlemagne asked him some very direct questions, and he was UNABLE to answer them in any meaningful way...Kanye is painting himself as a revolutionary, and Charlemagne challenged him on that, by pointing out that true revolutionaries didn't need money to make an impact with the people...

Then Kanye alluded to the point that "he wanted to make sure that North's future was secure and almost guaranteed, and the only way he could do that was to own things"...

(1) This is a great line of thought, but it is NOT revolutionary as Kanye would like to think...This is what almost everybody is doing today...Most parents out there are using whatever means they are comfortable with, to ensure that their children futures are secure...

(2) Revolutionaries don't only think about their own children, they think in terms of "their people"...If you are a revolutionary in terms of breaking barriers, then it's not enough to secure the future of your child, you have to secure the futures of as many children as possible...

So, Kanye reason for being "turned up" is to secure North's future...What's so deep about that...?

(3) Kanye says to secure North's future, he has to own things...Excellent...But how does screaming at Nike and Louis Vuiton accomplish this? Wouldn't it be more revolutionary to build your own brand, accumulate wealth, and then put yourself in a position to actually buy out Nike if the opportunity presented itself?

Basically, Charlemagne summarized Kanye when he said "Kanye was just venting rich people problems"...

Based on that interview, I did not see a revolutionary method to the madness...It seemed more like a publicity stunt...Kanye probably has something deep inside him, that makes him want to do more for social justice, but he is just in an environment that will not allow that...It seemed like all he wants to do is be recognized as a great fashion designer, by the big houses of fashion, and that's really his main frustration...He has NO credibility with those people, and wants to be accepted by them...

A true revolutionary, would say "f+ck Nike and Louis Vuiton, I am going to create my own fashion house...Oh, there are no black people designing high end suits and shoes, well, I am black, I am the most creative human alive, and I have all this money I made from record sales, so instead of sucking Nike's and Louis Vuiton's penises, why don't I open my own boutique in Chicago, and start my own collection of exclusive high end male suits and shoes"

Charlemagne exposed dude as fugazy...

MJ did more for Nike than Nike did for MJ.

MJ made Nike hot...which not only made his line successful, but then every other athlete to follow.

Then expand that to Reebok, Adidas etc.

Probably not. But I can sympathize with him on some personality traits though. That's why I think he's cool with Jay. Both are socially awkward especially in one on one situations, creative visionary types, narcissist, etc.

Kanye's an ass but I really think he finds his thoughts and views important and gets frustrated with himself and others that he can't get those points across. That's why he rambles and goes on diatribes.
